Without the benefit of knowing what's really going on, my first piece of advice would be to be gentle and avoid anything that hurts too much. There is some risk that any scar tissue will retract with time and make things tighter, but you really don't want to risk reinjuring the finger. If it's just muscle and healthy connective tissue that should be able to wait.
