This just came up at our house when we were putting away Christmas crap. We were standing in our utility/storage room looking at all of the crammed shelving units and we both mentioned how much stuff we had accumulated in less than three years.

My Mom and Dad managed to avoid the necessity of a purge, because my sister wanted to buy their house to retire to, so they cut a deal whereby she bought it from them and they got to live in it as long as they were able, which for both of them was till the very end. And as Dad said, the bonus was not having to clean it up to sell!

Is it normal for there to be a different “harmonix” or sound when the chain is on different cogs?
Recently replaced my chain with a SRAM chain. Old chain was worn and the bike shop only had SRAM in a price I wanted to pay. Didn’t have any issues the first couple of rides but today everything felt off. Shifting was off, it didn’t want to down shift on certain cogs. And when I would upshift it the chain would slam down onto the cog.
The other thing was a weird noise on certain cogs while I was pedaling. When I was on the bike it sounded like my pulleys were louder than usual but it also sounded like it would be coming from the cranks. Checked nothing was lose.
Just got done servicing the bike. Re lubed the chain and adjusted the indexing. I got it to down shift fine now, chain still slams on some cogs when Up shifting.
But it also sounds different when on certain cogs almost like a brake disc is rubbing but the noise is coming from the chain.
If this doesn’t make any sense. I apologize.

Make sure its lubricated sufficiently, and check its length /wear. as long as its not rattling like its out of adjustment your fine.

What does the rattling like it’s out of adjustment sound like? and what’s the fix?

We're headed for 40°F today. And, maybe 50° by Saturday. Whoopee!

We'll get above freezing the next few days, but I'd rather we didn't - I'm going to have to dig out a fender for all of the muck that'll get flung up.

Bike rode and felt much better this morning. My legs felt like lead still.
My wife purges all the time with or without me. She hates clutter, and I have to be careful where I put things or I may never see it again.
Im a borderline hoarder when it comes to specific things. Bass guitars are a perfect example. I have a hard time letting go just because I have stopped and started playing so many times and I hate having to re buy stuff. Gym equipment is another example. Though when it comes to both of these things I would sell if the price is right.

Wow, call me oblivious, I had no idea of such a connection. What’s the mechanism of that?

Not sure if I'd sell any of them though, the instruments at least don't take up a whole lot of space...thankfully I'm content with only having one amp

Plus, I tend to sell things at a pretty significant loss since I hate having listings go on and on for a long time just to try and get a bit more cash. If I decide I want it gone I will make sure it goes quickly.

Sounds similar to heroin addicts’ candy passion.

put your bike in the stand. Spin the crank, while you spin the crank pull on the cable under the bottom bracket just a tiny bit. As you put tension on the cable, it will go out of "adjustment a bit and make a bit of noise.

I like having multiple instruments because what feels good changes from day to day. I played guitar and bass a lot this weekend but pretty much only on my Schecter guitar and my fretted Ibanez 6 string bass. None of my other instruments felt as good this weekend. I'm sure sometime soon that will change.
Not sure if I'd sell any of them though, the instruments at least don't take up a whole lot of space...thankfully I'm content with only having one amp![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
