Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Polished the family assault vehicle for our first tandem ride of the year this afternoon. 60s with 20 mph winds. Going to ride short and easy.

Yeah, there's the GPS/computer mount on top and a GoPro-type mount underneath (for camera and/or light).

The combo mount is secured to the stem through the faceplate with extended bolts and spacers in place of two of the stock faceplate bolts.

How was the off season? How's the team? Is Mrs. LAJ loving her Tacoma?
Holy cow. Finding time is an art in itself. It's great the sports are in the mix, and all is well for the family. I'm sure Lewis is living like a king, as well.

I took Mrs LAJ's Tacoma in for a noil change, and general check, since it's still under warranty a few Fridays ago. "I like my old Ranger, but that new truck sure is nice".

The off season was long. A boatload of trainer/garage time, with not much chance to ride outside. It's definitely a love hate relationship with that space in the garage. The team is good. We lost some, we gained some, and the gals are just plain bad ass. valygrl is on our team, and she's killing it.

Gotta be the wheels..... Not.

Kudo's. Makes you want to do more, now doesn't it? The week off will do you good, but spinning the legs a couple times if you have a chance, will help you big time.

Have fun!

They do. However, we will be in the middle of nowhere for most of the week and indications are for continuous rain squalls and 20-30 kts from the West most of the week.

Went north of Nashville to see Velo Vol nephew and niece play in a band festival. Whilst there I observed roads with a shoulder thingie a cyclist could ride on. Pretty crazy concept.

Ahh, I just need to give him ****. He loves my daughter and treats her with respect. He’s good with money. He’s in awe of my wife and me. Beyond that, it’s really none of my business.

So I happened to find myself inside of a Harbor Freight store last night and picked up the ultrasonic cleaner. While I'm getting my chain totally clean, I think it's a good a time as any to jump on the chain wax bandwagon.

I might try to wax tonight if I have time. I don't think that you really need anything special besides:
  • Something to melt the wax and soak your chain (I picked up the $10 2qt Crock Pot at Target today)
  • Your wax mix, bought or homebrewed (I got 1lb of Molten Speed Wax from Treefort for $17 shipped)
  • Something to help dip/retrieve your chain (bent coat hanger)
  • Shop rags
I'll report back when I'm done.

One of PuppyLove’s smooth doxie pack mates is a racing Weiner in his other life.

He won his Weiner Dog race down in San Diego yesterday. Lol from the FB video it looks like he won by 10 lengths at least.

Pretty sure that anything 10 speed and less is cross compatible.

Except for that weird Dura-Ace 8 speed and I think 10 speed Tiagra.

More details here.

I take it the Windsor has the Sora?
