Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I love avocados and guacamole. In my drinking days we would rob the avocado trees in the hills north of here then drive further into the hills and drink beer and gorge ourselves on avocados. Always kept a salt shaker in my truck.

embrace it. It happens to everyone. No sense fighting it, there's only one way out.

I have to decide between two methods I saw on Youtube. In both, you put the tape on the rim, pull up the backing strip on both sides of the valve and pull both ends to one side. Then stretch the tire onto the rim and pump it up enough to have some shape. Then you carefully center it and even it out. Then with one method, you put a pencil or pen under the tire to lift it off the rim, then roll it while pulling off the tape right behind it. With the other, you let off just enough pressure that you can pull the backing tape out from between the rim and the tire without tearing, and pull it all out.

Then check alignment AGAIN, and pump up to full pressure, and leave at least 24 hours before riding.

I suppose I should have sprung for better quality tires than Continental Giros. Excel was selling 2-packs of Vittoria Corsas for almost the same price as the Giros, but I dawdled and they sold out.
use version "a" on the front and "b" on the back. Then you'll know which you prefer.

Maybe it was just a bad day. Ignore it until one day it really knocks you on your ass.

Cruel. Fate sometimes is cruel. I am sitting on a road watching contractors work around a main. This road is all brand new asphalt. This road, that is part of one of my favorite rides. I haven't done in a while due to the pandemic.
It is absolutely gorgeous weather wise today. Not even a breeze, warm enough for a tee shirt, beautiful.

The Older Boy has been buying avocados every time we go to the store - Safeway had them at $1 each - and making avocado toast. And he always offers me some. He doesn't put enough salt on them, but that's easily remedied.

I read somewhere that avocado toast is why Millennials can't afford to buy houses, but it's possible the person who wrote that hasn't looked at 1) the cost of housing or 2) the cost of avocados and bread.

The guy from Caden carbon wheels has convinced me that his method is best. Not only does he make the most sense, but he also effectively denigrates every other method, especially gluing. I watched his video after Psimet's where HE effectively denigrates every other method, especially tape.

If I'd stayed up later, and watched other videos, I'd probably choose somebody else's method. Because it isn't necessary to actually know **** if you SOUND LIKE you know ****.
