Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Speaking for myself only, I would try to hold myself to two pieces of pecan pie. It would be difficult if it was sitting right there in front of me. Better cheesecake. Low fat.

Getting close to finishing a high chair for my not granddaughter. If Mrs. Seeds approves, I'm all set. What she doesn't approve of is the time it takes to build a chair she will approve of.

And with these last two bits of patching, I'm done with this damn darning. It does make me wonder, though - where does buying $3 worth of wool yarn and repairing a sweater rank on the @datlas frugality scale?

On a scale of 1 - 10 I think it’s a 12.

So my dirty, disgusting home job is done. We have a solid waste extractor pump in our basement. Its main job is to eject the water from our clothes washer into the sewer, but it also handles the duties from the basement bathroom (which does not get used much). Anyway, to the casual observer it looks like a sump pump. It has a steel top, 19 inches in diameter, that is likely original from the house (45 years old) and has been slowly rusting away. Mrs datlas is worried about radon gas etc. and also it looks pretty ugly and lets some yucky smells into the laundry room.

So I bought a new plastic cap from Home Depot and after a couple hours of frustration I was able to replace it. What a mess!

Dang, I kind of know how she feels. I've been terrified all winter of possibly slipping and falling again on this shoulder that's not fully healed yet from last winter's fall. It's a nightmare, especially when shoveling this nightmare driveway.

That was my SUV in 4W drive struggling to get up there.

He got a life and found better things to do. We'll have to go it without him, as we have with all our other recovered addicts.

Yes that was a very good game, a lot of blocked shots at the basket from both teams, my kind of b-ball.

Got my wife out for a whopping 11.3 miles on the tandem. It never crossed my mind how out of shape that the arm she broke would still be. She had a hard time holding herself up with it so we cut the ride a little short. Still, she got out.
