Good deal. Thanks for the update.
Let's hope the state rep doesn't use his 'influence' on the DA and try to get this downplayed. It will be hard now that it's made the news.

The GA state rep, Trey Kelly, is the Majority Whip, basically the #2 guy behind the Speaker of the House. The Speaker, David Ralston, is a poster child for the "good-ole-boy" network. He has not had one thing to say about the entire incident. Maybe it is just my skeptical nature, but you can guess the DA has had "a conversation" with somebody already. Just listen to the way the DA danced around the reporter's questions...

Also, regarding the original post, if somebody did that to me while riding, I wouldnt be very concerned about the legal proceedings, because my relatives would find him and run him over for sure.

COVID delayed the Grand Jury action that was originally schedule for back in March, but the case is finally moving forward with a Grand Jury indictment!
True justice for Eric Keais and his family is not a done deal by any means, there are powerful political connections involved. But let's hope for the best...

This is not just a southern thing. In Pennsylvania, it is called being "Druced" for Thomas Druce's hit an run of a Veteran.
But I am in the south and we recently had a hit and run of a cyclist by an 80 year old attorney and legislator and his name has not even been released and he has not even been charged - even with video of the cyclist being hit.

Waiting for the out come of this case.
In the meantime the family should resort to a civil court to get justice. Criminal courts STINK when it comes to getting justice when a cyclist is involved. I happened twice here in Nebr in the last few years.
One driver was an 82 year old woman with known macular degeneration, and the other was a elderly judges wife. Neither were charged in criminal court. The families resorted to civil court and won.

The representative and the driver have both been indicted in connection with this crime. Let’s pray for justice.

Driver - Ralph Dover - "Hit & Run Resulting in Serious Injury or Death" (not Vehicular Homicide if I understand correctly) and "Reckless Conduct"
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1PpX...rOHtgdOhB1aNf4
State Rep - Trey Kelly - "Reckless Conduct" a misdemeanor
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1QG2...d7nL6_FEx95px4
Police Chief - Jamie Newsome - Zip, Nada, no charges, going about his business.
The locals are mobilized, but the "good ole boy" network runs deep in Cedartown, GA.
Just a small example, On the Grand Jury for this case was a partner from Trey Kelley's Law Firm, and also on the GJ was a board member from the Cedartown Hospital on which Trey Kelly also serves. Now you tell me what the odds are that these guys are on any GJ, let alone one someone close to them is being investigated by. Fortunately the remaining jurors were not swayed.

Update:
Things are moving slow, but with COVID restriction lifted the courts are open.
The State Rep, Trey Kelley is trying to quash all charges against him.
Local judge ordered a change of venue for "conflict of interest", meaning, in my opinion, he doesn't want to have to rule on his good ole boy buddy.
Change of venue Judge (Cobb County) has heard arguments, and will rule in July.
The driver's case (Ryan Dover) has not started.
The local Sherriff (Newsome) looks to be safe regarding criminal charges.
And on a odd twist, Trey Kelley's wife divorced him, which many believe is a ploy to protect assets if he is found guilty in either a criminal or civil case. I tend to agree, so maybe not so odd of a twist...
