Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It does look awesome. However, you have to remove it from the bike to take stuff out, and at least for me the center strap liked to slip between the two side flaps. That and the fact that it has to be folded in from four sides to close, then an elastic strap, then boa'd to the seat. Oh and to get anything out you have to pull the thing off and go through that entire procedure to get anything out of it. The capsule, on the other hand, you just attach to the seat and then open and close as needed. At $40 or whatever they cost, we just got one for all four bikes, permanently stocked with supplies. They don't look as nice as the roll, but I'm all about function over form. And they still look a lot nicer than most seat bags.

I looked up the Honda service prices online last evening. So I could take an accurate amount of money with me today. The online quote was 1200 pesos, and a 10% discount in April. The invoice they handed me was for 2200 and change, including 900, for what, I asked. Parts and labor. I mentioned the number I saw online, and it got changed to the correct amount. That amount was broken down into parts and labor. $1080. They evidently pulled a number out of the air, added a random parts and labor charge, and tried to bill me that amount.
Aahhh Mexico. This discovery will save me a pile of money over the rest of the service life of the car.

The last time I had dealt with Honda, at a different lot, they told me the work that I needed done could not be done today. This was already the second appointment. So I told them I would leave the car overnight, and they could call me when it was ready. I drove home 3 hours later, work completed.

Yeah, I can see it being less convenient if you had to access it regularly. I've moved/removed it regularly but I think that I've unrolled it in earnest only once, though, and that was for someone else. At that kind of (in)frequency, I'll take the aesthetics.

Gum disease is a major risk factor for all manner of inflammatory blood vessel problems, including heart attack and stroke. No surprise there’s a connection with Alzheimer. Take care of those gums!

When you're a married couple with OCD and potentially different tube lengths, you check the contents before _every_single_ride_. Earnest can go right back whence he came.

Why do you go to Honda for non-warranty, non-repair service, i.e. routine maintenance? Are there no reliable independent oil change people, etc. Is work done by an independent mechanic not honored for proof of adherence to requirement for qualifying for warranty, like if you have engine problems? Just wondering.

I have the longest tube, in my marriage, by quite a margin.

I had a pretty long bout of sleep paralysis last night. That’s what I get for taking a nap earlier in the day.

I guess i should go get tested for narcolepsy.

Helment

long ago when Bicycling Magazine was about bikes and riding there was an article about how professional bike racers and world wide bicycles tourists always wore helmets doing those rides and never received brain damage. But where these same riders did suffer brian damage was always when they were riding within 25 miles of their home, because they felt safe in their home territory and didn't where a helmet.

Meh. Our disc (wheel) is still tube-mandatory, and I'm still not into our brave new world. Also, don't you still need a tube for some flats?

Maybe one day.

I do carry one, but it's never been out of the Silca roll and I don't swap sizes for the two bikes, so it just sits there.

Each of my bikes gets it's own bag.
