Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I don't have a lawn, and I haven't taken a crap this morning.

Sad.

Near my NJ office there is a feral cat tent city behind a shopping plaza. The tent city is directly behind a Chinese restaurant.

So it's a Farm-to-Fork establishment.

That's wise and economically beneficial use of a local resource, which might otherwise go to waste. Now, how great would it be if we grew something economically useful, rather than grass (mainly weeds in my case), on our lawns?

As Richard Pryor once said when talking about Chinese restaurants, "You order **** you eat ****."

The wheel has been repaired but not yet tested. Maybe I can get out before the rain. I replaced all the gouged spokes, which included the two broken ones. The shop owner (45 years in business) convinced me to try it. He then trued and dished it himself. Vamos a ver.

Double NBD for my kids. I got some BMX style BSOs for them from wally world.

My 5 year old (well 6 next week) is graduating from zooming around on her coaster bike to an 18" BMX style, and my older gal (9) is going to a 20" BMX style... I'm more concerned about her. She's scared of riding still.

Also, did y'all hear about Kittel getting fired from Katusha? Holy cow, didn't see that coming. I wonder if he'll be present at all at this year's tour.

I think I've reasoned out the answer to my own question. Kittel has always been worth a few stage wins at early sprint stages at the tour.

So if there was any chance of him doing the same at this year's tour, he would be basically too valuable to fire even if he did nothing else all year.

So this has to mean the team thinks he's at a point where he doesn't stand a chance in hell. Wow.

Wow I did NOT see that coming. I do think he still has some stage wins in him.

edit: google search gives answers. it's a mutual thing he needs some time off. that's reasonable. I feel the same way TBH.

My wife was outdoors in the yard the other day - she found something that looked weird, so she bent down to pick it up. Turns out it was a frog or a toad - I don't know who was more scared.

I was going to that but am trying to take the high road. MUST RESIST!

Hey, @gnome! If you see two Seppo ladies of a certain age driving way too fast around the South Island on the wrong side of the road, it's my wife and her no-good sister.

It seems less mutual to me and more "you're fired". They wouldn't terminate the contract if they thought he could win a stage... by keeping it in place they could at least prevent him getting wins for other teams and still give him the time off. I think he's free to sign elsewhere at this point.

Who knows, though. They may have setup a new non-compete in exchange for a termination.

But his statement sure makes it look like he's done for the year, and maybe for good.

I'm sure we'll hear more in the coming weeks. I'm hoping the rumors I hear (alcohol or doping) are not true. They don't seem very well founded.
