Whew, shoveled a path and brought in all the trash cans for the apartments, shoveled the sidewalk too. Wonder if I should dig the van out, probably won't be driving anywhere, the poor ol' girl only gets out once a week these days it seems.
Before all that toil I had a nice time trackside sipping coffee

Dang I missed the memo about the tuck-n-roll Flite saddles!!!
Hopefully they won't sell at $122, cuz I might get one if they drop down to $80ish

The diamond stitching like in my wife's Audi would be pimp. I'd have to reconsider the saddles that I have now, which are just about perfect for my tush.

Smoking tobacco is prohibited in many, if not most, public places in California, including beaches, parks, and even sidewalks in some areas. This is as it should be, no one should be allowed to force others to inhale their drugs.
Yes, I smoked those stupid cigarettes for 20 years but now I react to the smoke by getting terrible headaches. My eyes swell shut, my sinuses close, and fluid accumulates in my lungs. I first experienced the symptoms in about 1997 after I hadn't smoked for over 10 years. I worked with a bunch of chainsmokers and I thought I had a brain tumor. Realized it was the smoke when I started having tobacco withdrawals on the weekend.

For me single malt means Talisker. You can smell the peat. Mrs. Dan and I were in Carbost once. The place is absolutely stunning. There was a 3 hour wait for a distillery tour, so we had lunch and rode our tandem over the hill to Sligachan for dinner. Very good dark beer in Sligachan. The pub there brews it on premises, and if they run out they are out. Great food in rural Scotland. Better than France, by far.
I have a wee drop left in the Talisker, but Mrs. Dan bought me another as a New Years present. The bottle lasts about 2 years, so not much of a drinker.
Weddings? We spent a little bit on ours. About $1500 in todays money. Flowers came from friend's gardens. Mrs. Dan found ivy growing on an abandoned homestead. Venue rental? Hahahahaha... free!
Kind of an Oregon hippy/logger event. Most of the cost was a very good cake from a bakery run by a co-worker's GF. Made up for it by taking off to go skiing in British Columbia for three weeks. Daughter got married mid COVID. She was going to spend about $2000 for a McMenamins venue, but the state of Oregon shut down everything.
She found a park in Portland with a garden and a gazebo. Just beautiful. I bought cheese cake from https://pieceofcakebakery.net/ which is a great small local bakery in SE Portland. That and some takeout pizza made a great meal. About 15 people were there.
Lastly, weed or booze? In my fire/medic days I saw a lot of damage from excessive alcohol. Cannabis? The damage is much more subtle. I have known several people who quit cannabis who claimed it made them paranoid. It was always paranoid or totally lethargic for the people who had a bad reaction. Never saw a violent cannabis user unless they also used methamphetamine.
Meth just plain reams people. Opioids just have the problem with respiratory drive. Push a little "Jesus in a bottle" (Naloxone) and they are wide awake and they hate you because you ruined their high. Also brought them back to life, but in the here and now the high was more important.

Wife has a friend who likely won’t survive a folding chair. He chose that option over a ladder. His wife is in the medical field and pronounced ‘We’re losing him’ after several weeks had passed with no physical improvement and significant emotional decline.

I have a Schwinn diamond tuck on my 78 World. 1020 steel. I rode quite a few centuries on that combo before getting the Prelude.

I bought my Superbowl subscription about an hour ago. US$1 from NFL Game Pass. Might only catch the second half, as we have a social engagement. But I can watch it in its entirety the next day if need be.

I thought about riding again today, but I never really woke up. Having one’s colon evacuated that rapidly takes its toll. I wonder if it’s anything like having an abortion. Someone here can surely speak intelligently about that. Tomorrow for sure. The fam removed to the beach this afternoon. I’ll join them there Friday and drive them to the airport Saturday. The Grandpa thing worked itself out nicely and I am now fully ensconced. I’m still glad I missed out on fatherhood though. There is a great Charles Bukowski quote that speaks to that. I’ll put it up when I see it again. In the meantime:

Rode the bike path for 2.5 hours. Cold and misty when I started but the sun broke through. I thought about going to the top of that mountain in the cloud but I turned back at the first muddy water crossing when I realized there was at least one more up the canyon and probably lots on rocks on the road.
The east end of the bike trail system is where there was 30 feet of mud so I went back.
This path has a few little hills. I'm going down there.
There are several bears in the area in tribute to the ATOC which passed through this valley.
That's a runner on the right and the one in the distance is an electric motorcycle. No pedals and he went by going at least 30mph.
Legs felt pretty good and I stopped at a park for a snack and when I got back on I had a front flat. I had a good sweat going and eating and then fixing the flat I got cold. Clouds started blocking the sun and a little wind kicked up so I decided to just finish the ride. Had planned more miles but was having trouble warming back up.
Path was in good shape, they clean it pretty often. There were crews out today.

My 56 Ford pickup had diamond tuck interior when I bought it, recently redone. I never asked him why he was selling it. Perhaps that’s what he did. Do it up and sell it. It was painted bright orange. Cost me $600 in 1974. It had a kick down three speed tranny, so I could drive across town and rarely have to shift gears. A sweet ride.
