Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

FYI the waxing of the chain thing in my household isn’t my idea, it’s Mr H’s.

He doesn’t like greasy chain lube.

To me, waxing the chains seems like way more work than the old traditional chain lube method.

Puppy Love flushed two rabbits today in about an hour of rabbiting. My rabbiting friend brought her three dachshunds and they flushed zero rabbits. Not that it’s a competition, just by way of saying that it’s not so easy to find and flush these rabbits.

She tracked one rabbit into heavy cover and she was so hot on its trail that I couldn’t get her back. She careened down a super steep escarpment down into the wash and then into thick bamboo. Took me awhile to get her back, I had to scramble down into the wash to get her back. Coyote risk down there so I was hustling.

Our rabbiting season is winding down. Too much rattlesnake risk on top of the background coyote risk. I’ll still run her a little to keep her fresh for her Utah Hunt Test. But no more gorging on rabbiting until next November.

Poor rabbits. You’re lucky Bugs is retired, he would not stand for this.

My right shoulder and elbow are displaying bursitis type symptoms. With no apparent cause except old age. The left is prolly as healed as it's gonna get.
My wife signed me up for a worm composting class rhis morning and dropped me off early. I ordered my first cup of real coffee in about a month. Though the coffee is very good, I'm unimpressed. What I am impressed with is that my table seems to be placed right next to the entrance of a yoga studio. If I practice enough, perhaps I can look like those young ladies I see entering. Boby type wise, of course.

Thinking the exact same thing

Except the gravel part. Need to find a good North/South route today though.

Sounds scary. Good luck.

We sold my mom's apartment in downtown Chicago a few months ago. We have to stay in a hotel when we venture back to the Central Time Zone. Sad.

Referral kick back? Yikes.

Too windy. Packed for a week in Ireland, sold a set of wheels, and now heading down for some structured fake miles, if I can get through the set.

Just got a text from a friend that a group is doing an urban ride in Peoria so that should take care of the wind part.

Be careful near that yoga studio. Many of those sweet young thangs are very athletic and lift weights in addition to doing yoga and could likely kick your butt while doing a hand stand. A few years ago my nephew's daughter, who was 13 at the time and who swims competitively and consequently is very strong, could nearly beat me arm wrestling. I dare not risk it today.

Has a chilly, windy ride, too. Felt good to get out, but winds and being in early-season shape sucks.
