17° C this a.m. Thought about the vest, but wore a sleeveless base layer and arm warmers instead. No one l else had anything extra on. I get colder than anyone else I know.

Time to re-up that Zwift subscription, possibly. I won't be ready for that until December.

It dawned on me yesterday that on Friday I have to wear a mask for the entire train ride. That's a bit over 7 hrs.

Going riding with a friend and were supposed to see 95-98 degrees in the area that was 121 on Sunday. Might be too smokey, we'll see.

NBD. I wear one for the entire day at the bike shop. That's at least 8 hrs.

Freaking rain. Started out getting light splatters, turned into a steady drizzle. Refused to get pushed inside once I was going though.

But it should beat driving. PHL to PGH is a mind numbing drive. The train, on the other hand, goes through the Horseshoe Curve. Haven't been through that since '98. And I think we can detrain in Harrisburg for a bit while they change from electric to deasil traction.

Presumably you can leave the shop for a break and take it off. I'll be stuck on a train. I am going to assume I can take it off to eat. I booked a business class seat. There will likely be no one in the seat next to me. And there is should be a café car seating area.

I have the vacation time, but I think that would be a bit much considering how little I've been riding.
This trip is going to have some short days. When I did this route back in 2013 I bit off more than I could chew one day and never made it to a state park where I had paid for a site. The park was five miles further, all up hill. I also failed to anticipate the how much extra time the slow riding on the abandoned turnpike section would eat up. I ended up camping at an awful place noise-wise. If you walked to the south end of the place you could continue up a berm and walk onto the westbound lanes of the PA Turnpike. To make matters worse, there was a steep hill, so trucks were Jake braking all night. I don't think I got one hour of uninterrupted sleep that night. I was so exhausted the next morning, and it was hot and humid with no shade after the climb. Ended up stopping at another state park on route after only 37 miles. Spent most of the afternoon sleeping on my mattress outside my tent.

I have a couple that I rotate. Naturally, one of them is from USA Cycling:

Hey MoAlpha I have a puzzling neuro case. Healthy guy who got his shingrix 10d ago (red herring) comes in with 1 day of right facial numbness. Says wife thinks he has a right facial droop. He feels fine.
He has a possibly very subtle right facial droop but no other motor deficits on facial exam. His palate goes up symmetrically on "Ahhhh," and he has a very minor subjective decreased sensation on his face in V1/V2/V3. No vesicles or rash. Right ear exam looks ok.
So I told him that this was not really clear to me what the diagnosis is. I told him it could be a very early Bell's or a funny trigeminal nerve heralding shingles thing but I am stumped. Since I have doubt I told him to call me in 2 days with an update and gave him a script for antivirals in case he develops a rash.
Any thoughts??

I also carry a bandana in my back pocket, so I'm always ready to mask-up. Great for quick cafe stops or old-timey train robberies.
