Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The Broncos play the Bears in week 2, and the Packers in week 3. I'm not saying the Broncos are great, but I'm far less worried about those two weeks than I was. Of course, we play the Raiders opening day, and who knows how that incendiary device they have as a team member will play out in their performance.

Bears will beat the Broncos. We'll be there. Unfortunately, I wasted money on a ticket for my kid, who claimed this morning he's rooting for the Broncos although he was wearing his Payton jersey last night. Jerk.

I wasn't aware there was a game on--not that I could have watched it anyway. I was reading about the AB saga. Without beer.

Big Red is in town. Game against CU is in the afternoon, which means people will be drunk early. Then they'll go out after, which is where round two problems will begin. Most expensive college football ticket so far this year.

A big part of the impatience was that my daughter was requesting that we go read and nap (I usually have to stay in the room with her for a little while as she nods off) and I didn't want it sitting out there.

In any event - finally arrived and I'm feeling pretty 'meh' about it. Given the price, I'll likely return it unless it grows on me over the weekend (and maybe pick up a Varia instead).

That right there is we let folks from other states have children. Kudos on the Payton jersey though. Some players transcend the team they played for, though I couldn't picture him playing for any other.

It’s nothing new, but it never ceases to amaze me how these kids with super-human talent, literally gifts from God, can screw up their career and lives and just throw opportunities away. Fame and fortune is not enough? What’s enough?

That freak idiot formerly of the Giants also comes to mind. I must say though, I knew all along he wasn’t playing with a full deck, some key face cards are missing.

... but REI does the 10% dividend for members, plus there's a dividend match this weekend (another 10% by way of store credit), plus I get an extra 5% dividend for the REI credit card and I could have the Varia in-hand tomorrow (impatient youth, just ask @MoAlpha). Interesting...

Joined the crummy gym at work because I wasn't going often enough to the nicer one we belong to. Good way to kill an empty hour during the day and might help me bulk up a little this winter. With my shaved head I am beginning to look like someone out of Nuit et Brouillard.

Hanging out in the camping area at the Cumberland, MD, YMCA. Can’t pitch the tent until 6. Stupid rule if there are no planned activities. It abuts a rail line. Lightly used, but supposedly there is an early morning train.
