I agree with KtotheF. Used bikes are probably higher in Portland than anywhere else in the world.

Vitus 979 Racing Road Bike Vintage French 50.8CM Frame Triathalon Etc - $1000 (Gloucester, MA/North Shore)
Date: 2009-10-14, 1:14PM EDT
Reply to: sale-fbk6d-1421178073@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]
I have an Excellent shaped Vitus 979 from the 1980's; this bike can still hold it's own! 20 years ago, the total cost of the set-up was well over $2500. Approximate measurements: 20" [50.8 CM]; Dural All Aluminum Frame (Supposedly the lightest frame available at the time); 30" [76.2 CM] Standover; 22" [55.88 CM] Top Tube measured end to end. Cool, purple color with nifty handlebar wraps that will be easy to find amidst the frenzy, during your next triathalon. Has Dura Ace Derailer, Kinesis 6061 Forks, Ambrosio 19 Extra SuperElite Rims, Tioga Model 7000 Handle Bars; Titanium seat mount, Campagnolo, Sachs, Athena Brakes, shifters, etc. Shimano pedals/clips... Quite a rig! Presently rides, but can use a professional tune-up.
Here is some scarce information on this classic French frame maker:
ttp://schutt.org/velo/vitus-979.php
Frame is beautiful with minor signs of use - much better shape than others I have seen offered. Vitus emblem has a little wear. Serial # is E130580. A very enjoyable ride & quite a set-up. It is truly a fast bike and still very light, even by today's standards. PLEASE include your phone number & which item you are interested in when emailing me, so that I will know you aren't a scammer.
I may consider trades for gold jewelry or an old US coin collection... or a set of sterling silverware/flatware.
Buy Local - Buy Used! F- the corporations. Let's all do our part to help send the likes of Goldman Sachs back to hell!
Please keep in mind that I am located 30 miles north of Boston, before taking the time to email.
Thanks for looking; craigslist rules!

Being Portland, it's probably gone already. I don't really need a project right now, or I'd look into it.

A Ross Apollo 3 speed muscle bike in the just east of Youngstown Ohio. Looks to be in really nice shape. Not my type of bike, but if it were a little closer I would have gone to check it out. $65.

I'm not sure what to say. Stolen? Look at that seat height... I wish I wasn't flat broke.

60's Continental in the cool violet color and brezed on shift levers. I've bought from this guy before. Bikes tend to be on the rough side but salvageable.
