Schwinn Prologue TT/Funny Bike Project

Awhile ago I had a thread about a Nishiki Linear TT bike project. Well that frame turned out to be to small. Lucky for me a forum member (luker) had a schwinn prologue frame laying around. It was my size so I purchased it to replace the Nishiki. So anyway I figured I would post a build-up thread as I work on the project. I'm still waiting for the bars and stem and the frame to arrive but have everything else.

The build specs are as follows:

Frame and Fork: Schwinn Prologue with Tange Tubing
Front Wheel: 24" Velocity Aero Head on 105 hub
Rear Wheel: 700c Sun Mistral rim on a Shimano Dura Ace hub
Front Derailuer: Shimano 600
Seat Post: Unknown
Headset: Tange
Brakes: Unknown
Pedals: Shimano SPD
Aero Bars: Profile Design Aero Light
Rear Tire: Schwinn Record 700c Clincher
Front Tire: IRC road lite 24"
Crank Set: Shimano 600
Rear Derailler: Shimano 600 8 speed
Saddle- Selle Italia Turbo
Shifters- Durace down tubes with profile aerobridge and profile swift shift to make them into bar end Brake Levers- Dia Compe bar end
Bars- Profile bullhorns
Stem- Unknown Quill
Bottom Bracket- Shimano

As for the Nishiki Frame and A few of the extra parts there going on ebay tommorrow hopefully I can get back some of what I put into the new frame.

Well I got the frame yesturday. It looks great. I'm begining to build it up but have run into a few minor problems (need to run into the shop for a pin spanner). The only parts I still need to get are 24" tubes, chain, and cables. The last problem is that my handlebars and stem still havent arrived. They were bought on ebay from a seller in canada stupidly I sent a usps money order. The seller is sending back the money order and I'm gonna try to find a place that does international money orders (western union does the right). Otherwise its going good but may be awhile before its done.

The Prologue TT has a 27.2 mm seat tube. The TT geometry is interesting the way it's set up for a 24" front wheel. I'd sure like to see pictures when you've got it put together.

Yep thats mine. It sold for $150 so I ended up coming out alright on the whole thing. Also the prologue is going well. I went to the shop today and got the bottom bracket done I also installed both the deraillers, the brakes, the crank, and the durace down tube cable stops. I will get pics up as soon as I can borrow a cam.

Heres the pics

Also I took it out for a quick ride today and found out two things: 1) The bike is fast 2)Your hands get really cold when you ride in the winter without gloves. Over-all it rides like no bike I have ever been on and will take a little bit of adjustment. It accelerates like no other and has a very aggressive possition. It is also a little twitchy all thing I think I will get used to over time. However I would not want to ride it on a hilly course with any technical descents. Should be great on flat courses though.

yah. it was made for flat tt's. When I raced one, I had a machinist buddy turn some pad elevators to get the elbow pads up a little more, and I put a little more upward slant on the tri bars. The only thing the lower bars are for is riding around the parking lot, waiting for the start...

I just put one of these together tonight. I am amazed to find that I really don't need that super high/short stem, it's not as ridiculous as it seems. It is quite quick, responsive and quite a lot of fun to ride!
