Why is there so much leakage from the road cycling forum?

I think the issue is that the mods have all but given up on the 41. So all the people who actually want to take about cycling have to come to the 33 where there is some resemblance of intelligence. The mods need to crack down on the 15 parody threads that pop up after every real thread in the 41. I used to never visit the 33, but now I almost exclusively post in the 33 because I can get real answers.

It's been made clear that noobs are welcome, but there is an expectation of at least having some serious intent to engage the subject matter at hand, both here and in the real world.

This. There is a much lower tolerance for stupidity here than in the 41. here is the sticky to answer the basic questions and act as a starting point. If someone asks a question without even making an effort to read that, then we are not going to be very accommodating. Then we also have some well estbalished threads for the standard subjects, training, race bike pictures, power noob questions, etc. Those are updated often enough that they are usually on the first, or first several pages.

no no no im not talking about the same thing the OP is. I mean when did this forum care about stuff like this enough to make posts about it? There have always been dumbasses in here asking dumb stuff, myself included, but there didnt seem to be such a backlash to it. maybe its because a lot of the old elite guys like smoothie left and the new ones arent as good?

When I want fluff pepperd with some good threads I read the 41.
When I want advice on training or racing, I'll come here.
And even though I don't post much over here, I'll continue spending a majority of my time here lurking and learning.
edit: maybe I mis-interpreted the OP's intentions, which I thought to be the same as ElJam's "41 thread" over in the 41.

It's not anything against anyone coming into road cycling.
Go anywhere someone is having reasonable discourse and start talking with 0 prior knowledge and people will refuse to take you under their wing. Show interest, ask pointed questions, do some basic research, and don't be scared to fail, and people will step up.
To those trying to come over to the 'dark side', make a point to do some basic research and lurk for a while, then make your appearance and things will line up. I credit this place with a lot of what I've learned, but I'll be damned if you don't have to earn it.
If you walk into a gym for the first time, you don't walk up to the guys squatting 5x your weight on the first day and ask them to teach you. You work your way up to them.
Sure road racers are less intimidating, but the same form of respect and etiquette stands.

I can't think of one useful cycling post you have ever made. You are a trolling idiot. I don't mind noobs who come here to learn and have a genuine interest but I do mind your ridiculous posts that you probably find so funny, creative and witty. Noone cares about your food pictures you steal from flickr. Bring it to some food forum, not one for bicycles. I would rather have a thousand beginner cycling posts in the racing forum than one food picture from you.
