Ride FW- Austin with me for SXSW!
Yo this is Gibby. As soon as I get back to the fort mid March Im planning on riding down for the big ol party sxsw. I know somebody else from DFW is doing the same thing. We can party our way down there. Im trying to do a 2 maybe 3 day ride, scanning bikely.com right now for some routes.
Whos done this before? Any suggestions?

Sounds like an awesome time! I won't be joining you since I live in/near Austin but I hope you find a good riding buddy or two and have a great ride!

We're going from Dallas to Austin March 13th. We figure it'll probably take us three days. We're still deciding on a route, but I'll be sure to post it up here when it's concrete.

We had a nice route that generally paralleled US 281. You're gonna love it. Be prepared for sudden, unexpected gravel roads and temps from the 70's to the 30's. Expect stiff headwinds.

Myself and two other guys are doing FW to ATX on the 13th of March. 2 days. We're doing it fixed and planning on camping at the halfway point.
A thread was just made over at fixedfortworth, but we could maybe discuss here also. I've been looking for routes as well. I'll check out bikely and veloroutes but I also came across this, which would have to be re-done backwards: https://www.fwbaclub.org/ride/maps/atf_que.pdf
Rick Rubin - the more the merrier!
edit: surprisingly, i didnt see anything on bikely or veloroutes which is weird. i'll maybe refine the searches more or just browse.
i did this though: https://veloroutes.org/bikemaps/?route=46472
tried their auto-route thing which looks kinda ok. it looks nearly the same as the google maps "walking" route.
now, i dont know any of these backroads, but it looks like a decent route on paper. the only weirdness i see is that it would have us riding along 35 from Belton to Austin, but it looks like crossing over and taking 95 south instead would be ok, or maybe the 35 frontage roads are ok...im not sure. maybe someone will get a chance to drive it before riding.
one of the guys mentioned trying to meet up with the dallas group at the 35W/35E split, but that would make the FW->ATX route less direct.

waco really is the most ideal spot to meet i reckon
this will be a good ride i think. at least it will be more relaxed than HH100 since theres no worrying about making it to hell's gate before noon.
