IMHO, the best thing about those kits is that they're actually in the school colors...I always wonder why the latest UCSB kit versions have been some combo of white, black, and red...
Oh, and if you want to see suffering from that race of ours...THIS is suffering
Great shots umd!

I always figured that the UCSB kits were not blue & gold because all the UC school colors are blue and gold, and since they race against each other often, they wanted to stand out in the pack better.
Looks like UCSD is sporting blue & pink this year, or this guy just has an odd sense of style.
Upon further googling, it looks like this guy just has an unusual sense of style, and the pink is not part of the UCSD kit.

Handing up bottles to my teammates marshaling at Bethel yesterday (Ronde de Bethel). I have no pictures of me actually racing at this point. I wasn't necessarily suffering in a racing point of view. I carried the bottles in my hoodie hood. Heh.

Oh wait...it was a Cat 4 race...what was I thinking?
Unlike the P/1/2/3 race that had nearly 50% Platinum riders in the field, in the 4s it was just Bill and myself...despite that, we each won a prime, and I ended up 7th, so I guess I can't complain about the racing
BTW, I liked racing with THOSE juniors today (edit: oops...I meant on Saturday)...they're all good bike handlers and they like to "push the pace" a lot. Fun stuff

Couple more for me courtesy umd:
My suffering face always seems more liek a smile. Maybe if I get meaner I'll get faster....
Re: the glasses. I wish these were authentic but they're target brand. The fog less than my cycling specific glasses. Go figure.

Here's a retro island view classic shot (made even more retro by the baggy really old school UCSB jersey):
I don't have any more style these days, but hey, it was my 2nd crit and maybe 3rd race. Back then you could 'win' a C crit by taking a prime and 2nd in the finish, which is what I did.

I almost bought one for Bethel (cold Spring Series). I decided against it when I found my taped up Rudy Project "bought at Interbike from the booth folks for cheap" helmet. Then it was warm so I wore my regular one.
I think there's a place for ski helmets in cold races, the kind where you can open/close vents. Those and goggles.
And I'm serious.

Almost didn't recognize you with the facial hair, but who else on Platinum would have a Cervelo? I hope you at least got a Prime for that.

A little sequence of the end of the 5's RR @ Mason Lake yesterday:
(field started out with 85 riders, not sure what happened to everyone..)
That would be me in the blue jersey, blue/white helmet, tongue out - yeah it was a fun little sprint - but I wish I'd gone to the outside for more room.
Got 7th. Good times.
Though the course gets a bad name for crashes I think I like it.

iirc we were sent out at 30 second intervals.
also, this was only the a'dam club TTT championship, so it wasn't super serious. only one team brought trainers. my nod to aero was riding with no gloves and shoe covers.
