stopped in to the Bicycle museum of america
Mee and the family took a trip to the bicycle museum of america yesterday. There is some very nice early bikes as well as a pretty extensive schwinn collection. Most of the collection was purchased from the schwinn family a few years back. Others are on loan from collectors. I snapped some 200 pics. Its a very nicely setup museum. Enjoy.

Ignaz had this tandem made for his family. Notice the baby seat in the middle. It is 1 off and Crown who owns the museum purchased it from the schwinn family a few years ago for $100,000

i love the spoon brake behind the front wheel on that last 1. Also the foot rests on the fron fork.

this peugeot has over 800,000 miles on it.

they must have had 50 raleigh sports and a few superbes and a few rudges but for some reason the photos were deleted.
If you are anywhere in the area i highly recommend checking this museum out.

This museum used to be in Chicago, and when I was like 13 or 14 my dad "dragged me" to it. I liked riding bikes, but didn't really get it. In retrospect, it was a cool bonding thing and we definitely still enjoying talking about / looking at bikes.
Another thing: Don't let people see this thread, since that was a U-08 in there. "Museum Quality U08!"
I'm also amazed that they had one of the 50th anniversary Paramounts.

If I am not mistaken, that is a 1937 Paramount track frame. I thought the first Paramount track frame, 001, was made in 1938 and was owned by a guy in California. Anyone know the real story?

Yes they had a few mountain bikes. But only 3 or 4. 1 was a yellow folding framed mtn bike. The other was a new carbon fiber frame that looked to be weaved like a spider web. It didnt really impress me. That 70th anniversary paramount was #10. They said only 16 were built up and sold.
