All Mountain & DH Bikes
I am fairly new to mountain biking and am looking for either an all mountain (full suspension) bike, or a DH bike.
I am looking to race it, likely next year, and do a bit of trail riding, but mostly i see myself donig DH trails and runs.
I am kind-of hesitant to get a DH bike due to the weight and inability to run xc trails well...
so would an all mountain bike be able to handle DH trails well? Or what would be my best options here?

a little out of my price range at the moment....
Will likely do a frame upgrade to that next year or so, as it looks like a pretty sick bike.
But what i have my eye on at the moment is the 'Cannondale RZ ONE40 - 5'
.. would this be a dece. alternative? Or what else would be a good fit in the ~1500-2000 price range?

more-so XC..
But we have some pretty gnarly single track trails out here (Kananaskis/Banff area), as well as kicking around DH trails, jumps, etc..
Hoping i could get something strong enough for some DH riding, but versatile enough to ride XC.

I live south of Bragg so I ride the same trails that you do. If you're going to shuttle, hike a bike, and ride the resorts, then get a DH bike. If you actually want to race XC, do not get a DH bike.
I ride most of the trails around here on my slack geo 4.5" trail bike but some of them are a lot more fun on my DH bike.
A Specialized Pitch would be a good choice for a lot of the trails around here. They should be around that price range (around $2000). Go talk to Franzky at Bow and he'll show you some options.
