I never wear shades and even riding it is a relatively new habit. i was told that we should always wear them when out and about and that will limit eye prolems when older. i'm trying to follow this advice but old habits die hard.

I can't justify spending more than 20 bucks on regular shades, because I lose/break them so frequently. Also, it enables me to have a pair in the house, car and office at all times. So I just get whatever looks decent at a gas station/mall kiosk.
That said, I wear sunglasses pretty much unless it's raining or completely overcast, because my eyes are pretty photosensitive.

Climbing: Julbo Nomad Zebra (3yr old?)
Driving: Oakley Twenty FMJ / Blue Iridium (10yr old?)
I have a pair of Oakley Square 2.0 Polarized Blue Iridium that I never use... they are also like 10 yr old.
And then I have my Serfas with the nearly-clear lenses for cloudy/dusk riding and my Tifosi with the photochromic lenses for riding in bright-variable conditions.
I don't really lose or break glasses so I don't mind spending a fair amount on them. It comes from having worn eyeglasses as a child and learning to protect them.

$15 cheapies I got at the ABC store in Honolulu. I figured I'd lose them on the beach at some point but that didn't happen.

+1 I have a pair of Canoes
with prescription lenses for fishing. Great glasses but they do fit a little tightly around my eyes. It's pretty easy to fog them even when it's warm...maybe especially when it's warm.
