What do you guys do if you have spit while cycle?
I know this is totally off topics, but I'm a person that has a lot of spit (mucus) while doing anything type of exercise. Now I'm biking about 10miles one way, and a lot of mucus develops.
Currently, i always look for drain on the side of the road, or spit to a grassy area(they will absorb it at least). I don't want to spit onto a sidewalk because i don't think that is good at all. Holding it til a place i can spit really affects my breathing in cycling.

Onto the road. I don't think my mucus or saliva is quite as toxic as the stuff that leaks out of cars.

Bike ≠ Car ≠ Ped.
Downwind, and hopefully away from anyone else.

I always spit over my left shoulder (but not right onto a car). I figure it encourages motorists to give me some space.
After all, the water evaporates, and the solids either end up getting washed into a drain when it rains or else nourishing the local vegetation, if any.

I spit. Never into the wind, though. And I guess if there's a genteel-looking person around, I'll save my gob for a minute or two until I'm well past. Even if they see me again, I guess I just don't feel right flinging my fluids at a stranger's feet.

I just spit out to the side, or away from anyone else in the vicinity. Once, though, I had just completed an interval and was winding down, and blew out a big one, then looked down to find a 'bent rider on my wheel...

You want to lower your torso and shift to whatever side you want. Turn your head so that the wind speed will not force the spit onto yourself or your arms.
By lowering your torso, the spit will be less prone to be airborne and carried into your back draft. This is just being courteous to the rider behind you. Even if you are riding solo, this practice makes it a natural response in case there are riders behind you. When a rider is behind you, he will see that you are making a move to spit. It gives him a second or two to perhaps move a little to the other side.
When stopping at a traffic light, make sure you don't spit where a pedestrian will walk. Where I live, there are beach goers who walk across Pacific Coast Highway with bare feet sometimes (i.e surfers).
Just don't spit in Singapore. It might carry a type of corporeal punishment.

I hate winter, because phlegm can rage on like mighty Mississippi.. Not much you can do, should the dam burst.. And , I suggest a reason to lax up on the peloton thing during the winter months.

Definitely avoid spitting if you are towing or carrying children.

Stop riding on the sidewalk and your problem is solved.
PS - sidewalk riding is less safe than using the roadway.
