What did you get for Christmas**********
#126
Nothing bike related. I've got a six month out of town work assignment coming up, involving a lot of airline seat time every 10 days. I'm a voracious reader, so I asked for and got a Kindle e-book reader. Also got a sweater, a pair of slippers, and a pair of pants.
dbikingman's story made me feel like a selfish creep, though. I'm with pcad (Never thought I'd type those words!).

I got nothing. I guess I got my gift a few days ago. I had a washer and dryer for sale on CL. A lady called and asked about it and if I would take payments. Well, the long and the short of it is she has just recently went back to work, single mother of three, one of which has medical issues. So she got the washer and dryer for free, a turkey dinner, and $20.00 gift card. This is an excerpt from an email I got from her the following day. Nothing I could have gotten for Christmas could make me feel this good.
Words can't describe what you did for my family tonight.....
The gift you gave us tonight was amazing. I was able to buy the stuff to cook the christmas dinner in with the gift card you gave me. This year has been life changing for me and my kiddos. My daughter last night was sitting with my son and him being four he now knows what santa is about and he was talking to her about what santa was going to give him. My six year old told him moms broke santa isnt coming. I was chrushed that my six year old daughter had grasped the idea that I had nothing to give them. You have brought santa back my daughters have no idea that they will wake up to presents in the morning. You truly were our angels tonight, I hope you have a amazing christmas

Yo! Not trying to downgrade what your kids got you but I have the park cutters and they've lost some cutting power after just one cabling session. Felco F7's are supposed to be industry standard, but I don't own them. Depends on how much you wrench, but it might be worth the upgrade.

Lot of stuff, the bike schwag was sweet. The Mrs got me a Salsa Vaya frame I'd been scoping and the kids bought me a couple of jerseys.
Now to figure out how I want to build the frame out...

My one Christmas present. It's not new, but that's OK.
Time to park the roadie and hit the trails.

As far as myself, I got a new road ID, and a PI Pro Series Thermal Jersey, and pile of Honey Stinger Waffle energy bars. The wife got a pair of Woolie Boolie socks, a Gore Windstopper Cap, a pair of Gore Windstopper glovers, and a pair of PI booties (she had no cold weather riding gear).

We didn't really do the whole present under the tree thing this year. Over the past month, however, a green Pendle Carradice bag arrived, to go with the green accents on my new(ish) titanium bicycle, and a whole bunch of furniture to house my stuff which finally arrived from Canada a little over a month ago. I can now finally unpack.

On second thought, though, I think the best gift was my wife texting me pics of my daughter opening her gifts yesterday morning. I was stuck at work, and didn't get home til almost 8am, and you can't expect little kids to be patient on Christmas morning. Ain't technology grand?
