Garmin and power meter
I have been looking at the Polor RCS800 with some accessories. But after reading a few post on the forums I see that alot of people are using a Garmin. What is your opinion on either one and also, what type of power meter are you using with the Garmin?
Thanks,
Tom

I have the powertap pro laced into some reynolds attacks. I use the garmin edge 500 for the head unit. It works great. I have no complaints.

I think you meant the Polar RS800CX. Nice thing about the Polar is that it works for many different types of training - gym, running, swimming, etc. If you don't need that, a dedicated bike unit might be better.

I have a Powertap SL+ and a Garmin 500. They work well together. I like it more than the little yellow Powertap computer. The Garmin also works with other ANT+ power meters like Quarq.

The garmin 500 does what I want with my quarq. I think only the Forerunner 310XT supports power if you are looking for a wrist band unit

The Garmin units are the way to go if you like getting map history of your workouts, and especially sharing them with others later. The Polar units have more functions for HR-based training but their desktop software remains mediocre.

Just another point the 500 works pretty seamlessly with WKO+, I assume the Polar does as well but I don't have any experience with it

Love the Garmin+Powertap combo.
It's nice to be find the same hill in different rides and compare numbers for it. It's also nice to be able to hit at lap button when you get dropped and see what was happening immediately before
