The girls at Starbucks call me sir too. BFD.
A female barista brought a Latte to me at a table. Yes it was at Starbucks and she had her clothes on.

No sleeping. Too much chatter in the hallways.
Plus I have bad gas. I drank a chocolate milk after the trainer session without my pills.

Hey Kensuf,

What do you think about backing up servers?

Guess where they don't do it? Guess who almost shat their pants because of that?

/facepalm

Sigh.

Ecch. Judging by the volume and color, I think my head cold just morphed into a sinus infection.

I accidentally tried to squat down to pick something up. It felt like someone dropped an anvil on my foot.
It's getting better quicker than I thought but still hurts like helvetica

That's dumb.

We only backup one subset here, which is our core stuff (email, web-space, home directories, that stuff). It's impractical for us to backup research data centrally -- we can't afford the tape for our footprint, which was at ~75tb an hour ago, but I literally just plugged in a 32tb array for a research group about 15 minutes ago. So we have a policy explicitly stating that we don't back up research data sets and that:

1. The researchers should mirror in case of hardware failure.
2. The researchers are responsible for backing up the data in case of fumbling fingers ('rm -rf /*', oops).

Still, core services, well not backing that stuff up is dumb. And I imagine most office environments don't come close to my storage needs/uses.

75TB an hour. I would have no backup concerns with that kind of bandwidth.

I have two levels of backups, business critical and disaster recovery. We can't afford anything in between, it's just too much data.

I never wish to be a restaurant reviewer...

but I just went to scope out a place for future reference, and it was completely amazing.
WOW - great food, great price, great service, great atmosphere.

It'll make for a great night out with the lady at some point.
