new white bike, looking for brown road saddle (no rivets) and tape recommendations.

Picking up a white singlespeed soon, was interested in a brown saddle and bar tape when I get around to upgrading. What are some good brown saddles, and bar tape that matches? Looking for saddles w/o the rivets, something more sleek. Doesn't necessarily have to be leather either.

Saw these Origin 8 and Velo saddles so far. Both are pretty cheap though.

I have that exact saddle that Scrod posted. Mine however didn't come with the dimples on the seat. It's from the same retailer, I think maybe the newer ones are smooth. Nice and comfortable and not too expensive.

I'm using Charge U-bend tape with it. It's fake leather tape and matches perfect.

That first one is nice. Second one looks a little long. Check out Brooks on CRC. They've got leather grip tape for $50 +shipping.

It's a self preference really. I'm pretty sure my fizik arione is longer than the second one, yet it is one of the most popular saddles on the road.

You said sleek, so I'm not sure they qualify, but I saw a really nice San Marco Rolls in brown suede and a Concor also at Velomine recently. Good prices too. Very nice saddles, but more of a classic look I guess.

Yeah that's pretty much the quality level of those, except they're actually super comfortable. I use one on my mountain bike and it gave me no problems on a 50 mile race and numerous other long rides.

I like to buy things for the long term so I wish they were a little better made, but at 30 bucks a pop I figure I can afford to replace it every season or two.

If you're looking for a saddle on the cheap, try the Nashbar Bedford Vintage Saddle

https://www.nashbar.com/bikes/Product...3_10000_202449

I got mine for $9.99 on clearance recently for use on a beater.

As far as tape recommendations, I Added brown cloth bar tape, 2 coats of amber shellac and it turned out decent enough although it was a lot darker than the saddle color.
