I will be there to look and buy.
How do you spot other C&V folks to say hi?

It's a little, no a lot, confusing around Chicago.

There is the 'Bike Winter' event in March, which Bob noted a few posts back. That is very much an urban-cycling event, sponsored by a bike advocacy organization. There are definitely parts and bikes to buy, but that's not the primary focus. If there's such a thing as a hemp frame, it would be found there.

But before that is the *Chicago Winter Bike Swap* which is completely different. It's on January 21, out at Harper College in Palatine. This is again not really a swap, it's dealers (pro and amateur) with tables or with bikes in the 'corral' but it's a big event with lots of parts and gear.

Bob and I will be in Madison unless there's a blizzard. I'll be wearing a 531 T shirt, Bob is the handsome one.

I will be set up with 2 tables, probably wearing a brewpub workshirt of some kind (Two Brothers or Lunar) and I will likely have a 54cm Trek Elance 310 SS conversion and a 48cm Schwinn Circuit and whatever else I can stuff into a mini van. Feel free to say hello.

I'll look sort of like this:

Can't wait! (Assuming the weather lets me get there from IA.)

Sheesh. If Alan's going to wear his 531 t-shirt, I can't wear mine. We'd look like identical twins

I'll wear my blue Vicini warm-up jacket... Either that, or the red Guerciotti jacket that Big Chainring gave me.

And, I'll be easy to spot. I'll be the only Thai/Chinese/Irish/French bike nerd there. I pretty much look like my dog, but not as handsome or quite as hairy....

Unlike the dog, Bob will bite your hand off if you get between him and a nice part.

Doesn't look like I'm gonna make it now. I will be at Palatine, though.

I'll be there tomorrow. I'll be wearing the jersey my wife knit for me and look strikingly familiar to this dashing guy.

I wish I could, but driving 250 or so miles each way in the recent snow does not sound like a good idea.

If you see this handsome fellow, sell him a 46cm road bike or frame please, mega bonus points if it's pink!

Which one is that? I'm not familiar with a (current) Chicago-area swap.

You could rationalize it, and say that since Madison is more like 400 miles each way, you're being fiscally and fossil-fuelly prudent....

I really wish I could go, but I have two issues.

1) Kids with soccer.

2) Parts, frames, and bicycles to sell before I consider another purchase. Anybody wanna buy a cool bike?

Have fun guys, and maybe we can talk some of you into coming up for our big Blaine bike swap.

https://www.twincitiesbikeswap.com/

Come and watch me sell stuff like there is no tomorrow.

Just finished loading my van and I don't think 2 tables will be enuff! Also selling a few frames for a buddy. He has a tall Mel Pinto track bike he's leaving in the bike corral.

I need to make a list of everything I'm hoping to hopefully find. Otherwise I'll just be buying stuff on impulse. Kind of like going grocery shopping when your hungry which always ends up interesting and usually not very helpful for the following days afterwards. lol.

We are a variety of sizes and interests so hopefully not competing for the exact same things. I guess I'd like to find some pieces to build up my PX-10, actually improving it: metal rather than Delrin Simplex shifters, derailleurs for instance. Also something cool in 52cm.

Bob fortunately is bigger than me so no danger of him scooping me out on my grail bike and having to take the bus home. I don't think.

I'll be there.

I'm the big fella with the enormous handlebar mustache and the blond buzzcut. Probably wearing Dickies and a flannel.

I have a *ton* of stuff to unload but no table-- I just found out about this swap meet three days ago-- and would be grateful in a monetary manner to anyone willing to let me share their table. PM me for contact info, *I'll be up and moving by 0600 CST tomorrow.

I'm planning on getting there bright-and-early at 9:00, and probably hanging around the DreamBikes table. I'll wear a shirt with an irreverent lion on it.

At the exact moment I was herding the kids to their friends' house so I could leave for the swap, the 10-year-old said, "Dad, my stomach hurts" and ... well, you can imagine what came next, it's not pretty. Have a great swap everyone! Till next year!
