Some sunnier snaps of the fixed burly one. Gotta decide if I'll give the synthetic a chance or banish it away and replace with a good ol' Brooks.

Travel Agents double as a noodle or a cable pull boost for mixing caliper levers with linear pull brakes

Beautiful bike.
Thanks! I don't think I've tried enough frames out to know how this compares for stiffness. I've only had two MTBs, a road bike, and this since I've gotten in to riding.

Late 1980s Specialized HardRock:

I got it because of the u-brake mount and relatively short (for a MTB) 1020mm wheelbase. It is heavy cro-mo that I won't worry about abusing. Seatpost, stem, and bars in the pic are place-holders ONLY, I have not decided what I want yet. Some parts are on order. Cranks and BB will be the turbines from the Caloi in the pic.

The Caloi and Centurion in the pic are on the list for sale or part-out. The Centurion doesn't quite fit me at 47cm ST and 53cm TT. I only rode the Caloi twice last year, I think it is a bit too long for me. I'm trying to reduce to about 6-8 bikes that I will actually ride.

you got a point, I don't ride on dirt much, but if I do, I will have to take it cautiously

Right on. Those older specialized frames are prime candidates for ss conversions. Looks good so far. I'm thinking anything syncros or control tech for parts, maybe salsa for the quill stem? Keep with the rad 90's parts.

I love watching you and Toph get into NJS debates. It's like watching a tennis match. I love the fact that I have totally bought into NJS romanticism and I'm fully aware that I'm overpaying for a stamp as well as a quality part.

To stay relevant, a new bike in my place (roommate who doesn't post):

Ya, I like arguing njs with toph too, cause he realizes its all a front and I couldn't give 2 ****s what he's riding, as long as he's out there riding...

Ya, I saw his new bike on fb. Did he PhotoShop out the dent on the down tube? Or is the pic just crappy enough you can't see it? I like the wheelset

The dent is still there, you just might need to upgrade your prescription (oh snap!). I like my wheelset better. You can actually see the logos (DADADADADADADA).

I love how he tries to justify his NJS obsession. I have none for mine, nor do I want/need one. Sweet parts with hipster tax: I'll live.

If we chip in and buy one of these for Carleton, do you think we could get him to put it on his Tiemeyer?
