David Byrne rides a Austro Daimler! Must have good taste!
Found this article in German about David Byrne,
I translated the interesting part.
The wonderfully spacious, but the next lease may no longer affordable studio are artifacts of Byrne's recent work around such as the piano from the Playing the Building installation in the South Sea Port, from Manhattan or a kind of Tapestry consisting of effects pedals wired with a Speaker sounds emit, once you walk around And there in his apartment leans his vintage bicycle, A model from the Mark Austro Daimler. Byrne, always travels with his folding bike when on tour but prefers his Austrian Ride, unbelievable-I have never heard of this brand.

A friend just sent me his copy of Bicycle Diaries. Pretty good read. I was amused to read how much trouble he went to , to ride a bike in cities all over the world, even when availability of a machine and suitable routes conspired against him. A real cycling enthusiast.

He's the king. Sat across from him on the Q train once and barely kept it together. He hosted this NYC pro-bike night at a nice auditorium. One of his guests was Hal, a CBGB/city-biking-guru who wrenches at a place in SOHO. Hal proclaimed "if you own a bike in the city, always make sure your lock costs more than your bike." Super cool dudes, the both of 'em.

OK it's a classic A-D color: maroon...think it's an SLE or maybe an Inter-10? Seems to have a front basket, so I'm thinking a "townie" conversion.

So, did anyone ever ask him what he did with all those suits he had with the humungous shoulder pads??
I remember he quit wearing them as soon as people started making fun of it. I think he should have continued to wear them as it was like his trademark look. But then David Bowie did give up his Iggy Pop look when it wasn't kewhl anymore....

Score!
For a Talking Head, it's imperative to have good-looking hair; good to see David's still got that covered

I've liked the Talking Heads ever since hearing them on the radio in the late '70s. They were one of my favorite bands back then. Glad to know this guy in a cyclist. Not the worst type of example set by a musician. Actually, it looks like he is setting a very good example. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Byrne

I've dug on david Byrne ever since Talking Heads '77. His solo/experimental stuff is pretty amazing too. Check out Rei Momo and The Forest.

well it's clearly a townie conversion with thumb shifters, basket, maybe replacement crankset...I'm calling it an SLE, but still might be an Inter 10 "sleeper". Very humble ride considering he could own any bike on the planet, but seeing as he rides in NYC, might be better to keep a lower profile.
