Yup....it was going to be the Marin Bobcat or the Norco Bush Pilot. The Marin was $100 more in price but a $1000 more in comfort and fit. I figured since I worked overtime last week I'd spend the extra $100 on myself.

Here's a pic of the bike. I'll post more if anyone is interested.

That's a nice bike. I like disk brakes. The black should hide the dirt real well.

Good to see that you went in and did it. Were you happy with the store?

Thanks. Whats the best way of cleaning the frame? I guess I shouldn't use any harsh detergent or stuff like that?

Thanks. I didn't get the bike at Fosters. I went to another place and was very happy with the service. The store also threw in a bell, bottle holder, and 2 water bottles, gave me half off for a pair of semi-slicks, and discounted $60 bucks of the bike price.

Hey Fretman! Thanks for posting more pics! When the tires wear out, how about the ones with the real thin pinstripe on the sidewall? Don't know what they are, only saw a quick picture of them on another bike. It was cool. Not red tires, just a tiny red stripe to accent the red on your bike. Oh, and just if it was me, I'd ditch the bell. Takes away from the "stealth" factor! But I really think that bike is nice.

Fretman! I'm in Ottawa too.
I went to Fosters but the attitude of the young girl on the floor was deplorable so I left.
Where'd you go?
(I ended up buying a bike while at a family reunion in London... :)

The entire staff at Fosters is great except for that young girl. I think I know who you're talking about. She was behind the cash register doing nothing. Apparently a few others have commented on her as well.
There are only 3 dealers for Marin bikes in Ottawa. I went to Mountain Masters on Bank and only realized when I got there that the owner closed up shop and moved it to Manotick. So I drove to Manotick and got my bike there.
What bike do you ride?

HA! Yeah, I've tried sand with 2 inch wide semi-knobbies - it wasn't pretty. I stick mostly to roads too though I'll deek through a dirt trail if it gets me where I'm going.
Memories of gravel impacted into my knees are still too fresh for any serious off-road.
What part of town are you in? (Orleans here)
