Thanks. The bike shop also threw in a free bell and 2 water bottles. Plus I got a pair of semi-slicks at half price. I'll post a few pics as soon as I figure out how to do it.

Yup....it was going to be the Marin Bobcat or the Norco Bush Pilot. The Marin was $100 more in price but a $1000 more in comfort and fit. I figured since I worked overtime last week I'd spend the extra $100 on myself.

That's a nice bike. I like disk brakes. The black should hide the dirt real well.

Thanks. Whats the best way of cleaning the frame? I guess I shouldn't use any harsh detergent or stuff like that?

Thanks. I didn't get the bike at Fosters. I went to another place and was very happy with the service. The store also threw in a bell, bottle holder, and 2 water bottles, gave me half off for a pair of semi-slicks, and discounted $60 bucks of the bike price.

Hey Fretman! Thanks for posting more pics! When the tires wear out, how about the ones with the real thin pinstripe on the sidewall? Don't know what they are, only saw a quick picture of them on another bike. It was cool. Not red tires, just a tiny red stripe to accent the red on your bike. Oh, and just if it was me, I'd ditch the bell. Takes away from the "stealth" factor! But I really think that bike is nice.

Thanks for the suggestion. The bell was given to me by the local bike shop. It's mandatory to have a bell on your bike where I live. I'm gonna change it for a nice black one.

I believe those tires you are talking about are made by Maxxis

Fretman! I'm in Ottawa too.

I went to Fosters but the attitude of the young girl on the floor was deplorable so I left.

Where'd you go?

(I ended up buying a bike while at a family reunion in London... :)

Maxis Hookworms perhaps? (probably the single best MTB slick available...)

The entire staff at Fosters is great except for that young girl. I think I know who you're talking about. She was behind the cash register doing nothing. Apparently a few others have commented on her as well.

There are only 3 dealers for Marin bikes in Ottawa. I went to Mountain Masters on Bank and only realized when I got there that the owner closed up shop and moved it to Manotick. So I drove to Manotick and got my bike there.

What bike do you ride?

I didn't know Mountain Masters moved! Go figure... rent must be lower in Manotick. (certainly a nice area)

What type of riding do you do?

I do primarily city street riding. I had the bike shop swap my knobbies for a pair of semi-slicks. I did a bit of off-road riding today just to see how the semi-slicks would react. On gravel and grass it's fine. On sand I almost flew off.

HA! Yeah, I've tried sand with 2 inch wide semi-knobbies - it wasn't pretty. I stick mostly to roads too though I'll deek through a dirt trail if it gets me where I'm going.

Memories of gravel impacted into my knees are still too fresh for any serious off-road.

What part of town are you in? (Orleans here)

I'm in the center town area not too far from Chinatown. However, I'll be moving out South in November....closer to Mountain Masters.
