Question about 1978 Paramount models and center pull brakes
This is only a curiosity but I discovered something on the cover page of my 1978 Cavalcade of Bicycles parts and accessories booklet that has me a little confused, which isn't hard to do. I guess Schwinn may have used generic pictures when they made these booklets. I looked at the cover of the booklet and saw what looked like a Campus green Paramount. That is until I looked closer at the picture and noticed the green bike with Paramount on the cross-bar has center-pull brakes on it.
Were there center-pull brakes on any of the '78 model Paramount bikes? There are only 3 on the Paramount Registry and all 3 are P13's with side-pull brakes.

It says that the center-pull brakes were only on the lady's bikes.

Is this conflicting information? https://bikecatalogs.org/SCHWINN/1978...LL/1978_07.jpg
It says that the center-pull brakes were only on the lady's bikes.

That said, the Carrera comment has me interested. If they used Carreras on the P10 and P15, there had to be a transition year for the top tube braze-ons to have moved from the right side of the frame to the left.

The 1978 P13-9 came standard with Campagnolo side-pull brakes. Period. Why get distracted by what P15-9s and P10-9s may have had? The '78 P15-9 and P10-9 came standard with Weinmann side-pulls with Campy side-pulls as an extra cost option.

Notice that on the 1972 Paramount Order Form, the Weinmann center-pulls are standard on the P13, and Campy Side-pulls are a $50 option. However, there is no Campy Option for the P15 or P10.
However, by 1976, the Campy side-pulls were an option on the P15 and P10 and "Extra cost frame alterations included in price" of Campy or Weinmann center-pulls.

Interesting topic. My old '74 P65 has Weinmann centerpulls and there's no way Campy sidepulls would have enough reach. The only way I could get Weinamnns to reach a 700c/tubular was to position the rear wheel at the extreme forward position in the dropout.
The pics below are with 700c wheels....

Here're pics with 27" wheels. I measured the rear reach and it's ~65mm as pictured

A couple of pictures of the Campy side pulls on my January 1974 P10-9. I bought it from the original owner and he said it was a $25 upgrade when he ordered the bike. The brakes do use drop bolts. He had the bike set up so he could use 27 inch clinchers for touring and sew ups for local group rides. Both sizes fit and there is enough adjustment in the brake pads for it to work. I got both sets of wheels when I bought the bike. Roger

Looking at Roger's bike, I think it would be darn near impossible to fit fenders on a P10 or P15 with Campy brakes due to clearance problems.
One of the reasons I got a P15 is that it has eyelets for mounting fenders so I could ride it during the rainy season. My Weinmann center-pulls work just fine with 40mm fenders.

Yes. Weinmann Carrera side-pulls were standard on the 1978 P10 and P15. Campy side-pulls were standard on the P13 and were an extra cost option on the P10 and P15.

What I mean is that you should read more than just bikeforums if that's what you're doing. I know the appeal of being able to ask questions, because I get caught up in it, too, but there are lots of web pages with static content that are very informative. Poke around. The web is big.

I found a company in Kingston, NY, advertising new manufacture drop bolts for $75 per pair. I haven't contacted them, so don't know if they're still available. Website has a 2011 copyright date. They don't seem able to spell bicycle.
