Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I never put that piece into testing yet. I am not real happy with the pin situation as it sits. There is some slop there, and I need to figure something else out. Just yesterday however I did a little more tuning on my Red RD. I have not removed the pins on it, and I don't plan to. I will probably do some more tuning in the future on this, but a quick little project saved me a few grams, and made it look kinda special. It also has an adjuster that fits in there that is another 2g. I also removed the graphics from the cage, and re-cleared the carbon for a simple cleaner look.

I know they have a following, but a 1200+g Aluminum road frame has no value to me. Try again, that build just doesn't make sense to me at all.
I understand the ability I have with the money I have, but my team can get me a caad 10 for 600 and I just can't see myself buying Record. And why campy? Well I have been on Sora, 105, dura ace, Centaur, Record. My wheelsets right now have a campy freehub and I don't feel like getting new freehubs for both my wheelset much more my race wheelset thaTht I got from China.
I guess the cash I have has little to do with how cheap I am. $587+$600 plus a seatpost= great price IMO

Checked out Nov Bikes, very cool but I'm not sure on the sizing. I'd have to go all white to get my size.

Okay, well it goes like this then. You want a CAAD, so go for that. Go with a Hollowgram Si crank, KCNC post, and brakes, SLR saddle, Zipp bars, and stem, SR11 shifters, and RD, with a Record FD, just to be frugal.

That sounds sweet. If your going with Aluminum that sounds like a great choice. Better get you a Hollowgram Si on the way too. You should get everything in black, it would look so choice. Then the SR11 CF bits would be the icing on the cake.

I have stock Cane Creek SCR6 (So stock that Cane Creek doesn't even list them on their site, nor can I find any weight/product info anywhere about them on the web), brakes that I'd like to upgrade to something more WW friendly.

Trying to stay in a budget or around $200 or less.... Any quick suggestions off the tops of your head?

I was looking at the KCNC C6 brake set.

I had a set of SCR-6 brakes that I sold on EBay and upgraded to TRP R920 road brake calipers
$150 for a set and less than 128 grams per caliper

I can't comment on the C6, but my C7s have been excellent. The SS pads were 8g or so more irc than the KCNC cork pads. They brake well. I've avoided imminent doom situations several occasions. Some of which were downhill at considerably high speeds. They modulate nice, and slows me down effectively, and efficiently. Just have to make sure you keep the guide pin clean, and well lubed.

Fairwheel had like a 20% off sale awhile back, and I ordered them. I didn't want to pay that much either. I find them at their normal price a pretty good deal. Lighter than most, and not absurdly priced. Getting them on sale was nicer yet.

Thanks everyone. Any idea of how much the CC SCR6 calipers weighed?

Looking into these and they seem to fit the bill for me. In my price range and seem to weigh in nicely.

I'd definitely like to know how much weight I'll be saving over my current Cane Creek SC6 brakes though before I buy.... Want to make sure it'll be worth it.

I have them on two different bikes and they work great. Watch the install video (Planet X had it on their site last I looked). One set replaced some Ultegra brakes and they felt identical to them. That set came with Swiss Stop green pads though. The pads make a big difference but that's the case with any brake.

My original inner cage broke, and I replaced it with a Fibre-Lyte unit. I have not seen any aftermarket outer cages available yet. Mine is a factory one, I tuned with the dremel, and removed the paint from. So unfortunately I can't help you out.

After the threadless conversion:

Velocals sells the proper decal set for the specific tubing (seat tube and blade decals) for the RB-1. It was only $8 w/ free shipping too! They also have all sorts of hard to find decal sets.
