I suppose I consider even my SoCal training camp rides JRA rides even if they average something like 3 hours a ride. They get a bit "pressurized" only when I need to get back to home base before dark.

The problem with group rides around here is the traffic - roads too narrow, too busy, etc, unless I go an hour out into the boonies. I like SoCal because there are such big bike lanes that you can do a double paceline kind of thing without getting honked at. Single file and it's not very social, although there are good points to that.

If you're free Columbus Day I think the Jamestown RR is flattish. I don't know of any others.

I'll check it out.

We're lucky that we can ride north towards Litchfield or Kent and only have a handful of cars to deal with, so we can ride 2 abreast on lots of back roads, with "car back" every 20 minutes or so.

Jamestown is rolling but in the context of a New England road race, it's flat. Johnnycake is flat.

Well, two days ago I was pretty much ready to hang up my road bike for the season. But after a really good day on the River Ride this morning, I'm all set to race tomorrow and the next couple weekends.

Had no motivation at the track tonight. I'll try and sleep lots before the race this Sunday (NoBo Park Crit) but after that I'm done. Maybe I'll try a little soccer...

last big push for me. odd season for sure. typically AUG is just ride around fun time because there are no races and i am burnt out. broken collar bone in late march and some actual USAC races left on the calendar make this a much different AUG. just hope the burnout holds off.......later.

TTs require so much motivation. I haven't done one since 1997.

Pumped... Missouri Cat 3 BAR all but wrapped up. State TT and Crit this weekend. Cat2 upgrade in the next week or so, then finish the season at Gateway Cup. Already thinking about 'cross.

Tomorrow starts 3 weekends in a row, Stage race, omnium, omnium. All 40+ open. I'm honestly not that competitive in this crowd, even if the local cat 1's don't show up. But, I like the racing and it feels good to know that I've given my all and got an honest result.

Form is pretty good, wish I had a bit more top end, haven't done enough specific speed work but oh well, too late for that now.

just made a few tweaks on the bike, raised the bar a few small spacers and leveled off the saddle a little more and power and comfort goes way up. so I am psyched.

My motivation is back. Got a teammate who has great form right now and I'll do what I can on Saturday to get him on the podium.

Same here. We're bringing a wrecking crew on Sunday with the intention of a top podium spot and special shirt. Time to repay some of the hard work this guy has put in for me this year.

I'm slowly getting motivation back. After having a decent spring me and my wife decided to move back to her family farm, which included remodeling a house. So needless to say, now 4 month later, we're moved into a lovely house but I have been essentially off the bike for 4 months (we both have full time jobs and I'm still in college).
Unfortunately, the "slow" rides around here are too slow, and the "A" rides are too fast (no "B" groups) so I usually end up riding by myself. Any tips for staying motivated when riding by yourself into a headwind 10 miles from home?

Ride with the "A" group anyway. Try to hang in longer each time. Know the roads so they don't have to wait for you.

Busted?

Mine is come and go. Next 2 weeks are the last 2 races of the season - both excited for the off season and wondering how I'm not gonna go crazy with no riding for two weeks. Def been a great stress reliever as of late. May have to start swimming or something.

It's doing weird things. For awhile now it's been mis-recording speed/distance, now it's just gotten very flakey. About the only two reliable things are HR and time.

Solo riding in the wind: I do whatever I can to plan my route so it's an out-and-back with the headwind to start. Some days that means riding 10 miles past my house just so I can turn around and enjoy that sweet, sweet tailwind.
