Pics at the Lair! Funday Monday

I had Monday off. While I did have a large list of items to get done I also wasn't going to pass up a day to ride. I went over to Lair O the Bear park. It was great. The weather was perfect, I love this time of year. The trails were open and the views beautiful. I really couldn't ask for more. Hope more of you out there get to enjoy this time of year on 2 wheels!

That is absolutely gorgeous. If I had some place that awesome to ride, I might actually do the mountain biking thing.

Looks like a great place to ride. Much like the lakes country an hour east of where I live.

Don't you get scared of wildlife. Just wondering. From someone who has lived in/near urban areas most of my life.

Take 70 East to the El Rancho exit. Follow to Evergreen. Go threw Evergreen on HWY 74 to Kittleridge. A couple miles past Kittle ridge on the right side is the parking area. If you hit Morrison/Red Rocks you went way to far.

Gorgeous scenery! Too bad I'm home sick because looking at your photos makes me want to get my mtb out of the garage and go riding. But I'd have to bring a barf bag and wear a blanket around my shoulders. Blah!

That first set of pictures are awesome; it's like you're taking surreptitious pictures of a ghost rider or something. I can imagine seeing that bike pedaling itself around the trail.

Hit me up, I'd be more than happy to show you around the trails. Do you know the Idaho Springs area well? I want to start riding up there more.

Is there anything close? It has been years since I was in Chicago.

I think I'd personally be more afraid of urban wildlife than rural wildlife. It's easier to outride a bear, or just scare off a medium-to-big cat, than it is to scare off a thug/hobo with a baseball bat and a mental issue.

Still pretty though, but if I couldn't hit the trail right outside my door, I'd never go to the trouble of putting my bike on the rack and driving out to the destination. At that level it becomes a bigger event than just going for a ride.

I dunno about outrunning a bear, lol..they can run pretty fast.

We saw one a couple of weekends ago, and we couldn't catch it with the car.

On my rides today I've come across 4 piles of bear poo. Here we have black bear...I don't know that bear have ever attacked cyclists. I know cougars have.
