These are my favorites as well. Platform side is unusually nice for Vibram FiveFingers, lightweight running shoes, or work shoes. Bearings are serviceable and parts replaceable/rebuildable. I use these on my daily commuter and touring bikes. 6,000+ miles on one set.

I'm liking these as an idea. The guy at the LBS told me that these are NOT good for road bikes and that the triangle things were a lot better because they were more comfortable and that they were easier to use.
true?
I feel like he's a pessimistic guy and that I need to find a new LBS! haha!

I wouldn't bother with a look type pedal unless the whole race kit was the plan.
you ruin the cleat walking , so the shoes come off after a long ride..
SPuD shoes have a recessed cleat, you can walk on,
but for just 2 miles, I wouldn't bother.. with those either,
or at least I don't .. I used to ..

If you really like clipless, use them. A lot of people like them a lot. Personally, I think clipless can be useful for mountain biking. For any kind of urban riding, I think they're silly. Like a lot of others, I prefer BMX-style pedals for riding around town. But that's just me; if you really like clip-in pedals, don't let the short distance dissuade you. Use the pedal that makes you happy.

I have the Look pedals that came on the bike (FREE), my friend said I can use his Northwave shoes for as long as I want (FREE), new BMX pedals will cost about 20-50 bucks
The only reason I being hesitant is the fact that I have to spend money. I'm trying to be as frugal as possible but if I find some cheap pedals on craigslist or ebay I will pounce on them. The worst part will be carrying an extra pair of shoes to school. :/

Have you seen the Power Grip pedals? https://www.mountainracingproducts.com/power-grips/
A person can also buy just the straps which will work on the MKS touring pedals mentioned in another reply.

I don't know if they make me happy necessarily. This is how I see it.
