Thanks. To say I'm happy with it would be an under statement..can't wipe the smile from my face...
I was told the new Athena 11 speed would be worth looking at - will it fit ?

Anyone have some Vintage Tommasini stems or seat posts they want to offload ? Or can tell me where to look? There's one of each on eBay at the moment but pretty pricey?Cheers

You are looking in the right place (ebay). I have bought complete bikes (in mediocre shape) just to get a stem and a few other parts.

Tommasini Velocista - Cuore d'Acciaio
Cuore d'Acciaio
I'm so happy to have found the Tommasini Lounge...
I've ridden plenty of Colnago, Cinelli, De Rosa... after my 3rd Tommasini Super Prestige, I got my Velocista (1 of 100) ordered new from Italy. I've ridden her all through Europe & N America. The best ride ever!
I have always kept up with the latest that Campy has to offer since 1982 and obviously gone to great lengths to upgrade everything without comprising her classic inner beauty--namely her Heart of Steel.
PS: Although I've seen a few in purple, I've never seen another one with the chrome going all the way up on the seat lug.

Welcome to the lounge.
That is a seriously cool Velocista you have there.
That happens to be a "grail" Tommasini for me.
I have a Super Prestige and a Sintesi that I love, but I would have to swap both of them for a shot at one of these gems.
Thanks for sharing.

thanks for the complements. The paint is very deep and really pops in the sun. Someday I will get outdoor pictures with a real camera.

It's Columbus MAX Tubing - I tried to submit another picture but it would not take...
Again, the chrome up to the lug is unusual...

What I like about MAX is the thin walled tubes are more stiff than SLX but extremely comfortable and resilient. I tried carbon and went right back to my MAX bike.

I spent a few minutes thinking about this nice bicycle last night.
In trying to piece together the Tommasini puzzle, could you tell us the year of the bicycle?
Also, did you order the bicycle directly from Tommasini?
Or from a shop in Italy?
Again, you have a fairly rare gem there.
Soooo nice.

Walking through the events leading up to that life changing purchase: I had a 1990 Super Prestige and was hit by a car in Santa Monica the day after X-Mas of 1992 -The accident demo'd me and the bike! I special ordered the Velocista from Helen's Cycles in Santa Monica maybe two or three weeks later. They got it direct from Tommasini and it arrived by middle of February or so. Therefore, my guess is that it is a 1992 model even though I bought it in early 1993. Honestly, I don’t remember if Tommasini continued to make the MAX tubing after 1992 but it could be a 1993. I’m told there were only 100 built for the US market, mine is stamped # 15. Truly, it’s irreplaceable and I would have retired it long ago except for occasional rides only but frankly I have not found a comparable ride. Especially with all the carbon components which makes her very light—just over 17lbs when wearing her Bora Two wheels.
I recently special ordered a steel Marinoni Fango CX frame (multi shaped tubing). They make some really nice steel bikes and you can custom order the geometry to your liking. Outfitted with Campagnolo 11 speed, AX Lightness SRT CC29 tubular wheels and Disc Brakes! All Black with Silver lettering, this bike will be stunning. So I will be riding mostly Cyclocross soon—and planning a European bike trip with my new bike.
Meanwhile, my plan will be to look for a restoration shop to repaint/restore my Velocista to original shape once I finish the build of my new ride.

Surely—you bring up some memories with that question...

I was hoping it wasn't an accident that spurred the purchase.
The Velocista is a special bicycle that doesn't come along very often.
I wouldn't do much, if anything to alter the original character.
As for the Marinoni, let's see some pics when you have a moment.
Sounds fantastic.

Welp, looks like the guy who bought my Tommasini from Wheat Ridge Cycles (the one that had gone missing so many years ago) has decided to sell it, and boy, oh boy does he want a sum: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Tomm...item4ac10d3796

Yep, and the seller has my old Grammo stem/Cinelli ergo bend bar for $175 BIN - not bad, actually. I've seen Grammo's go for over $300 alone. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Cine...item4ac0f9cac7
