At mid-year how are you doing on your goals for the year?

June 30 has come and gone so we are half way through the year. How are you doing on getting to your goals for the year.

I set the goal of upping mileage for the year by about 400 miles and increasing my average moving speed. As of yesterday I was more than 260 miles ahead of my 2012 mid year mark and almost 1 mph faster than the same period last year. I am still a ways from being able to keep up with the "A" groups that I ride with but I am making progress. I figure I can better both stats in the second half of the year also.

So how are your new year's resolutions coming?

Overall behind last years mileage, but a tough ride under my belt (73) and two 50s, plus my quickest club ride ever. My fantasy TdF team is not very good so far.

I set three goals for this year. I climbed Mt Greylock in Mass last month, I brought the bike to Maine with me and rode around Rangely Lake today, and later this week I'm planning to ride the bike to Saddleback, park it at the lodge, climp up the mountain and then ride back into town. Funny, two years ago I couldn't get up a flight of stairs without getting out of breath.

I am ahead of my goals, thankfully, I passed 1200+ miles for the year, yesterday. I realize that many here are stomping this mileage into the ground but, after everything health wise I am happy as a clam. This time last year I was tickled that I was able to ride 2-4 miles a day, 5 days a week and managed one 6 mile ride in June 2012. If I can hold this ride mileage and complete a half and metric century this year things will be more than I could have hoped for. Weight wise I am doing just what I wanted, I am down 53 lbs since last July, 278 down to 225 as of this morning at the doctor's office.

I got a slow start this year, so I set my goal at 3000 miles. Right now I'm not quite halfway there. If I have enough time to ride I can make my goal, and having enough time is the big question mark right now.

The wife and I have a little more free time this year so we're going to try and get out more often. It's only the 2nd year we've been riding together but we both love it and are always up for a new adventure. Last year our normal round trip was about 15 miles. This summer we're hoping to be doing 25-30 miles per ride. We're both over 50 and just love having the time together to get out and enjoy.

Well behind due to the late spring. Normally I can get in a few rides in March. This year we had snow through most of April and it rained all the time in May.

Not bad. I'm on pace to commute to work by bike 3 out of 5 days through spring/summer. Now to continue that pace on into December when I get three weeks off.

My goal was to get back onto the bike after an 11 year hiatus, lose some of this belly and get into some kind of shape approaching what I was doing when I was 50 and do a century sometime this year. since I'm working 2nd shift it kind of cuts into my riding time on the weekends when I used to do the distance rides.....So they're about 20 miles shorter than then. But I'm getting there. The belly is better but have a way to go. Am doing hills again (but sitting through a lot of them so far this year) and starting to get right onto the big ring over the top again.

I think I'll be OK for the century late in the season. I could probably do one now but I'd be struggling at it.

Winter weather was not great (California standards) and I've endured a lot of business travel, but I'm back in my 1/2-bike saddle, stoker being temporarily on the DL. I've got 4 organized rides lined up, the first three 100K. If I can solve my saddle problems I'll sneak in 2-3 Centuries before year's end. My long term, bucket list goal is a 200K before I hit 70.

I'm way off my goal. Winter didn't break around here until late, and I've had some issues with a blown leg muscle. Last June I was at 2272 at the end of June, and this June I finished with 1725 miles. I wanted to just better last year, and it could still happen if summer runs long.

But hey, I'm still in the saddle, so I ain't complain'n.

I just passed 2200 mi. which is fine, am now averaging 165 - 170 mi./wk., and am down to 160 lbs. (6 ft.), but my weight goal is < 155 lbs. and those last 5 are always the hardest!

Goals? Getting myself and companions back safe from every ride. So far, so good.

In addition to my regular rides I've done a dozen weekend rides with the spouse, 3-4 hrs each. That's a happy development.

Perhaps getting used to my Fizik Antares Carbon Wing 00 on long rides, that would be swell.

It's been a strange year for me. I had hoped to average more than 100 mi. a week, lose 15 lbs by August and get faster than last year in my 17.5 mi. TT.

The weather has me doing about 75 mi. a week. I've only lost 6-7 lbs and I haven't even ridden my TT in two weeks. OTOH, I'm actually riding better than I have since I came back to cycling 8 yrs. ago. And, I'm having a fun time riding with my gf and our club. No complaints here.

Terrible. We had cold/snow until late April then it started raining and hasn't stopped. Along with the crappy weather I have been busy working on our new building at Church and some projects at home. I'm leaving for Haiti for 10 days in two and a half weeks and will hopefully hit 1000 miles by then.

Goal #1 . Do enough training in the winter to be competitive in Cat4. Tick.
Goal #2 . Do some road races, not just crits and circuit races. Tick.
Goal #3 . Win, and upgrade to Cat 3. Nope.

I really have no goals set other than to ride as much as I can throughout the entire year. Being retired and living in Florida makes that possible so I'm good to go on the next six months. Since this year has been much better to me, injury wise, than last year, I was able to go over the 4,000 mile mark on June 30th. If it ever stops raining, I might hit 8,000 miles by the end of the year.

I'm doing a little better than expected. Speeds on flats have jumped a decent 2mph as a norm, over last year's speeds. Hillclimbing is stronger and I've reclaimed some lost ground on local strava routes.

Thanx for asking!

So far, I'm doing good. Done all the major rides I wanted to so far, but have many more for the second half of the year.

If I can stay healthy and not get too buried at work I'll do fine.

End of June miles are 4,135.

Probably the most important things are I'm healthy and I still enjoy riding after passing my second year anniversary on the bike at the end of May 2013. Show no signs I getting burned out
