Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Also, time for everyone to ditch their Elite Custom Race and get Elite Sior Evo cages! Only $75-$100 a cage from what I can tell... luckily there is a very similar cheaper model, the Elite Sior Mio Race that goes for $20-$30.

The incredibly pricey titanium+carbon Elite Sior Evo:

The much cheaper Elite Sior Mio Race:

couple questions:
I don't like white bar tape, what color do you think, black or green?

weight aside, does a carbon seat post offer any advantage (vibration reduction)?

How do you guys get your weight down so low? I ride this 58cm Caad 9 with Ultegra cranks, 105 brakes and Mavic Kysyriums (older wheel but still light) are my componets that heavy? Im not sure what year... Its the original saddle and seat post. Bontrager race xlite bars...easton ea30 stem (have a replacement ea70 waiting to be shipped to me) but its still like 18.6 lbs? :/ id like it to be low 17 maybe touch the 16...im no weigth weenie but I want it competitively light! SUGGESTIONS? -----are the original ultra forks that heavy?

Shimano components are heavier than Sram and some saddles, seat posts, bars and stems can be heavy like boat anchors. And then CAAD10's are something like 100g lighter than CAAD9's.
It's not just one component that makes the difference. One bit here, another bit there and you end up spending another thousand or two to make it just light or stupid light. I think you get the idea.

My bike used to be 18.6 lbs and now it is 17.4 lbs but I'm not faster at all. I also need to upgrade my legs, my heart, my lungs and my fat %.
If you have the money to spend then spend it and enjoy. If you don't have the money to spend then spend your time building a better body. Your bike is fine and looking great.

Here's my new frame. Don't think I'll ride it anytime soon, but I'm looking for a good spot on the wall...

2014 CAAD10 Lineup: https://www.1337society.com/caad10/ (love that they brought back the matte black w/ gloss lettering on the ultegra frame!)

2014 SuperSix Evo Lineup: https://www.1337society.com/ssevo/

They're ditching the regular SuperSix line.

Oh man. The 2014 CAAD10 3 frame looks delightful. I can't replace my CAAD10 just yet... hopefully they'll do a similar colorway on the CAAD11. Then I'll have two respectable reasons to get a new frame/bike.

Just spent a couple weeks at altitude training (or more so watching my friends train - injured). Saw a few good looking CAADs, but not too many overall. Hopefully I can get a summer job out there next summer and give them +1 on the CAAD10 count

I agree, love the black. The white one looks terrible in my opinion. Part of me wishes I waited to get the all black but saving money on last years model made it ok.

Pretty much is, except it has a stealth SLK crankset.

Just out of curiosity, were there any CAAD CULT members besides me riding the Triple Bypass this last weekend? I saw a few CAADs but not as many as I expected. Saw a ton of SuperSixes though.

I was out in the Breck/Frisco area during that ride, but I wasn't able to ride. We ended up driving past part of the route (Loveland Pass I believe). I was taken back at the lack of CAADs as well. I had the chance to talk with a rider who was in Rocky Mountain Coffee Roasters on Saturday morning. It seems like a great ride. I'd love to go for it sometime in the next couple of years. Which day(s) did you ride?

There sure were plenty of Sidi Genius 5 shoes... if I had a dollar for each pair I saw I would be in a set of Sidi Wires right now. If only, if only the world worked like that...

Which I regard as my second favorite CAAD colourway. Sitting behind the black/white 2012 CAAD10 3 colourway.

It was an incredible ride! Best I've ever been on. I'll definitely be doing it again. I rode the westbound Sat. route.

That's awesome to hear. The lady I talked with seemed to really enjoy it as well. I dig climbing, and I love Colorado, so I can't think of a reason to NOT do it. Except of course money, but I'm sure I could scrounge some up if a trip to Colorado was in store.

How long were you out in Colorado and where? If I go next year I'd love to bring my bike and do some riding. I saw plenty of riders in Rocky Mountain National Park. I was in shock at how many were out on 36 HWY (?) outside of Boulder on our way from Estes to Dillon as well. From a guy who has to take a good look at every bike I see, Colorado was overwhelming.

I drove down Friday and drove out after the ride on Saturday. (Had to be up in South Dakota the next day)

Here's my Strava link for the Triple ride:
https://app.strava.com/activities/66909272

I also did a real nice solo ride a month or two ago just out of Boulder. Here's the Strava and Garmin course if you (or anyone on here really) are looking for a good climb:
https://app.strava.com/activities/54934314
https://connect.garmin.com/course/3627365

Edit: Also by good climb I mean, the "Super James" HC segment that's part of it was flagged as hazardous on Strava.

If you can, I'd wait. I'm not a fan of the 2013 paint schemes at all. You wait for the 2014 Ultegra and you can go full stealth, plus you'll get the new Ultegra 6800.

Wonderful. I'm giving the Stravas a look.

$1800 for a CAAD10 3 is what I paid. Not a bad price IMO. That was for a 2012 last December. If I were purchasing a CAAD10 now, I'd just wait and buy the CAAD10 3. New Ultegra as pointed out, and that frame colourway will probably hold the best resale value (as well as being the most BA).
