Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

CP Gang:
That looks like an interesting route - what's the length? Hill profile? I should be up for it, just wanna know if I should 'cut weight' for it

Here's a description of the possible route. I might start a cheeseheads poll to see what you want to ride.

Go to Turning Leaf Ride Map while you read through description, because I will be mentioning mile markers along the way.

From my house to Mazomanie and then to mile maker 14.5 is fairly flat.
There's the first good climb up Far View to Mile Marker (MM) 16.
It's downhill fast on KP to Spring Valley where you can rest for a short time to MM 19.
A quick climb and descent leading to MM 20 and the swamp.
Big climb out of the swamp on to Blackberry and a crest at MM 21.
Little descent and difficult, tight, off-camber turn on to Kahl.
From hear to MM 23 are some nice rollers and views.
A quick jog on Scherbel to Table Bluff and a steep climb and slightly more gentle descent to KP.
Please stop at "stop" sign as there's a blind left going up hill.
A right on to Pine will make your legs burn a bit, but the reward is at MM 25 which has great vistas and the 2nd best down-hill on the ride.
A gentle rise on Spring Valley will give way to another 1/2 mile climb on Schuman starting at MM 27. Another careful drop to a T section at Otto Kerl.
If you are paying attention, you can roll out this left turn by looking behind the house on the left for your left turn.
Again, a gentle rise to Enchanted Valley were we get to do more rollers along MM 30.
Be careful of the next right!
Comes from a descent and is off-camber.
If you don't want to stop at the intersection of Hill Point, this is a sub 15mph turn.
One of the easier climbs will land you at MM 31 and our #1 down hill on the ride.

Descending Hill Point is what makes this ride and, as such, is saved for the end. Go as fast as you can through gentle "S"s, pedal out the flat section in the middle, (and if you're looking up) you'll see one off the better kept farms in the area, right before you hit a drop where you can't pedal anymore, then pull some "G"s in the on-cambered left turn. That farm is at MM 32 and then let's play "Out-Run-The-Dog" on your left. From here we cool down through Cross Plains, wave to Mrs. CPcyclist on Valley, and ride back for some serious carbo loading.

I hope this helps everyone that wants to do the ride and entices some who didn't know.

It could be "Compulsive Poser", but that would be too obvious. How about "Camp Pedal", were we met for the first time. Wait, that's not it! Oh, it was online at "Computers and Pinheads". You know, I'm getting really "Confused by Pedantics".

I'm just mess'n Zack, just look where our location is under our user names. Geez, I'm not going to make it easy. Cheers

I'm going to start a new thread for the next ride in Oct. The thread will be titled "Hey Cheeseheads, Don'cha know" and we'll talk about the next ride.

Front or Rear? I'd venture to guess how if it was the rear. It's probably just a bad build after a month, though. I hope all is well And, did you know CPcyclist is a real good wheelsmith?

It was my new rear wheel. I just swapped in another wheel for right now, so I'm still riding.
