Built a new bike, addiction sucks.
I sold all my spare parts, frames and kids on ebay for financing of a new project. I got the touring bug and wanted a bike I could ride anywhere, gravel, touring, you name it. This is what I funded, 2013 Kona Rove frameset with tour gearing by way of Deore crank 26/38/48, 12-34 cassette and dura ace bar-end shifters, should be able to climb anything loaded down. I even put disc brakes on it, Hayes new mechanical cx-5, wanted be different from the peeps. Will ride it tomorrow, finished building tonight.

Lookin' good, but we need better drive-side photos. Try riding it when loaded and see how that gearing works; you might consider a smaller chainring up front, something like a 24, maybe even a 22 (hills are a b!tch on a loaded bike)

1--- Always remember... The first step toward recovery is being able to admit that you don't have a problem!
2--- It is nonetheless a good sign that you didn't say anything like "This is the last bike I'm ever going to buy/build." That one's #2 of The Thirteen Sure Warning Signs.
Enjoy the new ride! Few things make for a more joyous cycling occasion than a new bike!

I took it on a short spin today, little climbing and in dirt, love it. I need to get used to bar-end shifters though. I have not ridden in a month so a little winded after 14 miles, later in week will be a longer ride.

No, I went over budget but got a couple more kids to sell. I do have a bob trailer to practice with weight.
I am lucky through this program at work though, Ortliebs 55% and Big Agness 40% off, already have a nice sleeping bag and cooking items.
I want a water filter but that can wait.
I am guessing March for a nice 1 week tour so have time.

Where are you going to tour? Take the train up to Monterey and ride back on PCH.
Nice bike! Man, I was wishing I had disk brakes last night bombing down a very steep hill. I was going 45 mph with no pedaling on my part and pretty constant braking, thinking "Gee, I hope my tire doesn't blow".

Nice bike! I wanted to check one of those out when I got my Vaya, but the only local Kona dealer didn't have anything like that in stock.
You could pack your stuff in just that b.o.b. trailer, I've seen a number of guys touring with single-wheel trailers lately as an alternative to panniers.

It all came down to what I could get on my ebay budget, the front-runners were Vaya, Ogre, LHT, Fargo and Sutra. This frame was a steal and identical to the Sutra.

Yes, I know of the site, it made the addiction worse. This bike opens a whole new world, more exploring for me, keep me from getting bored. I studied that site and the touring thread here to come up with my build. Hopefully within next few weeks I can take train up to Ventura and ride back for a trial run.

Also, truly awesome bike!
I just built up a disc LHT. I had serious braking issues on my Fuji Tourer. Loving the disc brakes, especially on the hills.
