I ordered a set of zipp 303s even tho I've no hope of realizing a significant improvement in my ability, but they're just so darn cool looking!

WHY OH WHY do I always spend money on essentials like bike stuff and then forget I also have to budget for Luxury's like food and cloths ect...

I only average about 60 km, 2-2.5 hours a week of riding. I will often make excuses not to ride when I do have time to do so because I'm not in the shape I used to be and don't want to be reminded of it.

That's 24-30 km/h or 15-18+ MPH average. Better than me. I've been averaging 132 KM per week, but it takes me 6.75 hours which is 19.5 km/h or just over 12 MPH average.

I kind of want to shave my legs but I'm afraid they aren't Fast Cyclist Strong or FCS and might look shady.. A lot of people might think different about me as well.

Confession: I seriously don't think I would want to wear Lycra. I mean, seriously.. Me? 
If/When I get a nice road bike, I will still wear normal clothes when I ride it and not look like I'm heading out on the Tour de France. No offense to any Lycra wearing riders...

I'm not offended, but I just wanted to point out that bibs and jersey ARE normal clothes for riding a road bike.

I was just trying to make a joke about Lycra cycling outfits and how they HAVE TO be worn when riding a road bike. I don't know... I just can't see myself in that style of outfit. Worse yet, I wouldn't want anyone to see my junk outlined in a tight fitting pair of bike shorts!

Sometimes for shorter rides I'll wear lycra boxer briefs and slim-fit cargo shorts. But for commuting 31 miles round trip it's almost always bike shorts, and high-vis jerseys.

I wear a shirt and tie, slacks, and a sweater on cold days. I used to wear cycling clothes and change once I got to work, but the hassle ruined some of the joy I got from commuting. Plus, I don't sweat as much as I used to and it's only 5 miles. My students have never said anything (of course, I doubt they would).
