What did This Gesture Mean?
We were driving at 65 MPH on the relatively-deserted freeway near Klamath, California, very close to this point:
and I saw a touring cyclist going the other way, walking his bike up the hill. I was looking at him and thinking that the hill wasn't so steep. The he stops and looks right at us, and does a very showy pantomime of someone smoking a cigarette or joint.
Was it:
1. Do you have any cigarettes or joints?
2. I'm walking up the hill because I'm a smoker.
3. He was just goofing around.

ha hah.... if he was putting his thumb and forefinger together like somebody smoking a joint..like an "OK" sign it was number 1, "hey...you got a joint?". No surprise he was walking up the hill . I guess it's not a shock that a touring biker might smoke although it's a pretty interesting incongruity. I know a sports oriented fellow that eats brownies. I'm waiting till I learn I have 6 months to live due to cancer. I'm going to just dive right into meth and heroin.

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I smoked for forty-six years, have fairly mild COPD, but there are times I have to dismount and walk slowly long enough to catch my breath. Tain't no fun, neither!!

Naah.
When I got in over my head earlier this year, a fellow travelor looked at me and said, "Is this route ever going to end? I'm smoked."
*speaking in Inspector Cluseau's accent* It is that simple, my friends.

Blaze up and enjoy that decent descent....while freaking out unnecessarily if your brakes will actually work.
