What did This Gesture Mean?
We were driving at 65 MPH on the relatively-deserted freeway near Klamath, California, very close to this point:
and I saw a touring cyclist going the other way, walking his bike up the hill. I was looking at him and thinking that the hill wasn't so steep. The he stops and looks right at us, and does a very showy pantomime of someone smoking a cigarette or joint.
Was it:
1. Do you have any cigarettes or joints?
2. I'm walking up the hill because I'm a smoker.
3. He was just goofing around.

Most likely- he was saying he had just smoked "something" and it had temporarily put him off his stroke.
He felt the need to explain why he was WALKING- when he had a bike.

ha hah.... if he was putting his thumb and forefinger together like somebody smoking a joint..like an "OK" sign it was number 1, "hey...you got a joint?". No surprise he was walking up the hill 
. I guess it's not a shock that a touring biker might smoke although it's a pretty interesting incongruity. I know a sports oriented fellow that eats brownies. I'm waiting till I learn I have 6 months to live due to cancer. I'm going to just dive right into meth and heroin.

I'll give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I smoked for forty-six years, have fairly mild COPD, but there are times I have to dismount and walk slowly long enough to catch my breath. Tain't no fun, neither!!

Blaze up and enjoy that decent descent....while freaking out unnecessarily if your brakes will actually work.
