Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SRAM chain is about the same weight as the DA chain, which only has about 1000 miles on it...if the SRAM chain doesn't play nice, then the DA goes back on (or a KMC SL in black)...likely there's zero difference in performance but the SRAM marketing hype for the cassette says "optimized to work best with SRAM chain"...

hey, I use the Chamois Buttr cream mostly, although most any of them will do. Just dont use vasaline, hand lotion, and any of that stuff. Get some cream from your lbs and it will help. the torino pad is a little bit rougher than the trilogy pad is, so yeah, this will help.

I'll wait for your report. I have about 3700 miles on my chain so was planning to replace it soon anyway. Albeit in this case one set of wheels will have the DA cassette and the Rail's would have the SRAM

I don't need a dozen Oakleys, but I love this color combo.

Had a BG fit done just before Xmas.
Had new innersoles and wedges put in shoes made my old shoes to small.
Found these at the new years sales for a good price so picked them up.

Not *exactly* the same thing, but I have the XG1090 cassette, Red Exogram crankset, KMC X10SL chain and 6770...everything works brilliantly together.

After much too long working on my bikes upside down or using various cobbled-together contraptions to raise the rear wheel off the ground, I finally picked up a proper work stand with a Nashbar gift card I got for Christmas. Out on the truck for delivery right now!

Work stands are not a "must have" but they sure are good to have and make things so much easier.

unlike some of the really boring black frames, this one is sweet, how long before the build starts/finishes?

Good question. Best guesstimate is that it'll be functional in about a week or so via a parts swap from a different frame. I'm not going to buy too much new bling for this build as I got a good deal and don't want to defeat the purpose of that.

Then again, it is kind of bling worthy... If that happens, final build will be posted in the stupid -- whoops, I mean awesome Hot or Not thread.

SRAM Quickview arrived today hoping to try it out next week when the roads clear and temps warm a bit. I do like how solidly it mounts the garmin though, more securely than the stock mount I think. (also sanded off the sram logo for a cleaner look)

Yes, dear Nicky, more pics to come after build -- probably in a week or so. Not in too much of a hurry to "get her done" as the only thing I'll be able to do is stare at it for a 4-6 weeks (I hate winter).

I bought a full 6800 group for my Spec Roubaix. Tracking info says it will be here Monday. I have a cool flat black aluminum frame and carbon fork in the garage. Going to take the 105 that I'm taking off the Roubaix and build a winter trainer, bad weather bike.

FYI, not sure where you got it from but for people looking to get groups definitely hit up Merlincycles. I just bought a complete 2014 Dura Ace 9000 group for $1,460 shipped to my door.... that is pretty freaking cheap!

Been a while...

Bontrager thermal bib shorts+shimano pro leg warmers= pro looking AND feeling!

And after @bianchi10 did a super good write-up about them; planet-x cnc brakes, $130 and 197g for my set. Best part is if you go on ebay, you can find the exact same cnc brakes direct from china, for $225
