Bar tape

So I had a little crash this weekend, I'm ok just a little road rash on my arm, hip and leg. The crash did mess up my bar tape and hoods, my bike is a 2013 felt and I love the tape that it came with but I have a paid ride coming up this weekend so I don't have time to order more online.... So I'm going to buy some from the LBS, any suggestions on a brand or type I should look for?

I am partial to lizard skins or fizik. A good bike shop will wrap it on free with purchase or do it yourself.

Basic black works fine for me. But then, white would be totally out of place on this:

Personally I don't like cushion. I had fizik stuff and like it.

It was probably generic, cheap, cork tape that came with it. Buy more if that's what you like.

i like the feel of fizik and other microtex stuff but they tend to be too unpadded for me. i find the thicker stuff tends to have worse surface feel.

I also like the Stella Azzurra tapes. They are also only lightly padded, but more than the Fizik. I like their Sugar Wafer and the Fabwik, which has a great textured surface feel. Trouble is they don't stay as clean as the Fizik or clean up as easily.

I am using Specialized Roubaix tape in white. It has been quite nice and I like the comfort.

Cheers,

consider the generic padded foam stuff with a gel strip on the back ,

the gel really doesn't have much effect other than be tacky so it wont gap so easily ..

Lizardskin is ok. I'm using their 1.8mm race tape. I haven't tried fizik, but from what I read it seems like it would be preferred.

I like this stuff too, but it isn't the easiest to clean and keep clean. Comfy though.

Dyed in the wool cork tape guy for last 20yrs or so, using Sram Supercork now. Love it, feels great on the bars/hands. No complaints.

Nasty as in they get disgusting, or is that your way of saying you don't like the feel?

I got some lizardskins when I built up my new bike late this winter and there is a small patch that is worn off or something. There is like a chunk missing. I haven't had the bike hit anything so it must be wear and tear. Not impressed since I only have a few months of trainer/road time on the tape; especially considering the price.

This is what I've got.

I like it though haven't really tried anything else to compare it to.
