Will the 'rally'/super record campagnolo long cage plates work on Victory?
I have acquired a bike with vintage campagnolo, Victory. The short cage derailleur is supposed to go to 30T, which may be fine, but if I want to turn it into a long cage derailleur can i use the rally/super record long cage plate or Soma copy, or is there a specific Victory long cage plate?
Note, I posted this awhile back, but all my started threads over past year are missing, so not sure it ever made it up.
Thanks.

I don't know if the rally cage will fit, but there is a long cage Victory derailleur called the Victory LX. They're not terribly common, though.
However, my understanding is that the long cage isn't so much for larger freewheel cogs, but to take up the chain slack on the granny gear of a triple crankset.

It might be a trial and error thing. I believe the dimensions and angles are the same as NR/SR so maybe it will work. I have to look and see if I have the mounting bolt but I have a Ralley I am considering seling

Yes, the curiously named Victory Leisure LX, which from my understanding was for bigger teeth cogs rather than an aftermarket triple crank. Were triples being used at the time? The Victory crankset while lovely to look at is not soft on the knees in mountainy terrain. But I imagine that the techies at Campagnolo wondered what to do with those left over rally cage plates and just threw some on for those who complained about lack of range for touring. I have a rally cage plate copy meant for either my NR or SR rear derailleurs, but the current Victory laden bicycle has bumped the line in wanting to be ridden.
So I suppose some experimentation is in order.

I just did a little checking and it seems a Nuovo Victory Corse RD will accept a 30T for the max cog but the Nuovo Vic Leisure accepts a 32, they changed how the cage mounts to the body to give you the extra teeth.
That being said, as noted above just changing the cage to a LX won't allow you to have a larger cog just a wider range of teeth between the small and large or a larger and smaller chain wheel difference.
I don't see a reference to a Victory Triple but it has a 116 BCD and while they were somewhat uncommon Campi did make rings as small as 35T.

I'm not sure if it's clear, but the second link I posted is a Victory triple crankset. They do exist, but I don't know what gearing was available.
Here is a link to a complete ebay auction of one with a rather favorable touring setup.

32T instead of 30T wouldn't be much of a difference, I guess the front cranks would determine that. thanks for the second link Justin, had to see it to believe it. Wow a 28t chainring. There is the Triplizer, but imagine a victory leisure could get more range with a double crank? I would be interested to know how much range a long cage victory could actually get, as it tends to be more than the official manufacturers guidelines. I have read about people getting up to 34t with their long cage rallys or rally plate copies.

look at the back of each cage if the holes line up to your derailleur Campagnolo to Campagnolo and are in the same spot they will fit.
e.g. a campagnolo 980 RD has holes all around the cage and not spaced correctly so it wont work with any of the aforementioned Derailleurs
Rally cage fits Victory Derailleur

kc0yef: thanks, exactly what I wanted to know, and I understood earlier(cryptic bicycle wizard response). Oh and could you go beyond 32t, or what range?
