Lock ruins teh silhouette

1. I have an old 1996 Trek 750 Hybrid that is actually a pretty sweet bike by most standards. I paid about $600.00 back then for it, which translates to, what in today's inflation...about $1,200 maybe more? It is a solid bike, incredibly comfortable, not fast at all, and insanely heavy, made mostly of the old style Chomolly, not even the new stuff. People do envy this bike on the street, so I have TWO locks both wrapped around the seat post, one very thick, like a weapon chain, and the other, one of those thick wire-type locks. I use them to lock the wheels and the frame when I commute to work sometimes, or if I don't feel like shopping with my car nd only have to buy a few bags of groceries close to my house. (Translate: I DON'T WANT TO LOSE MY PARKING SPOT! lol) I also have a kick-stand on this one, by the way.
2. I just purchased the best bike I have ever owned, a brand, spanking new fully carbon fiber Scott Foil 30. This bike has NO lock and no kick stand. I bought this for riding only, It gets left NOWHERE ever. I don't want a lock for it, I won't buy a lock for it, and if I cannot carry or wheel it in with me where I am going, I don't go there. Plus who needs a 15 pound bike weighed down by heavy locks? I bought this to ride fast, not be dragged down by gravity!
Oh, by the way, autism? lol Get over the silhouette problem. Either your bike is high enough quality to you that you won't put a lock on it EVER or you put a lock on it because you are willing to leave it places locked up. I don't think the aesthetics are even worth your consideration, to be frank, at least not for a lock. You want an awesome looking bike? Fine, get on with a beautiful paint job, and by all means, leave the lock off, but NOT for that reason.

Well, since you are so masculine, the weight shouldn't be an issue...

What do you measure it out to be? I don't know how big your hand is, but those numbers look more or less reasonable.

Maybe they mean inner (usable) dimensions? That would be close for width, but would only work for length if they only counted the straight part of the U and ignored the arc.

Maybe (sounds kinda convoluted), but look again at that package, they specify the measurement points - they are simply wrong.

Unbelievable. Exactly what you set out to avoid in the OP, and you got a sh**ty $40 carrier in the deal, too, bringing your total outlay to, what, $150 to get none of the things you wanted?

Already slightly disappointed in Kryptonite quality control... The dimensions on the lock package (see attached pic) and on their website (https://www.kryptonitelock.com/Pages...PNumber=997986) state 3.25” x 6” or 8.3cm x 15.3cm which is wrong, it would've made this u-lock tiny. These dimensions seem to be those of the inside of the arc.
But hey, it was made in Taiwan...
