Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Beautiful fall day for a ride this past weekend, shorts, jersey with arm sleeves. This is a usual turn around point on one of my routes, because the road goes from paved to dirt just past this tree, and the dirt road is known for terrible ruts and potential for pinch flats. I came around the curve, and just was struck by the the multitude of colors in one tree.

Took a slowish rid eon the local river trail today. It was nice to slow down and soak up the scenery, but I'll admit I did hammer it pretty fast on the way home because my legs felt slow and sloppy from all the meandering

Lovely. Looks like that would be some nice paddling there. I'd rather explore with a kayak that scene than bike next to it.

I agree - wish I had a kayak at my house to go on some of the local rivers. My parent's have a set "up north" and that's the exercise I switch to when visiting them because there's no good/safe biking nearby them. This will probably be the only time I'll ride that trail. Now that I've done it, I can see it's not really designed for much other than slow riding and walking. But glad I did it, the pictures don't even do the scenery justice.

Saturday's ride across southern Sweden, fantastic weather and some of the nicest fall colors in many years, unfortunately I had the sun into the camera the entire trip. Best watched in 720p

That's an attractive Trek you have there. Thank you dearly for keeping the saddle, tape, pedals, cages, and bag black. More people here should follow your example.

Ha - thanks. Truth be told, except for the pedals and bag, it came straight up black, and I've had no need to change anything. The pedals I originally ordered were white (to completment the frame and rim decals), but they messed up the order, and had to give me the black ones because I was ready to ride. I like the ideas of an all black bike, but it doesn't show well in pics. The only chance I get to mix in color is with bottles.

I'm actually "this close" to pulling the trigger on a 2012 black/white Spec. Allez frame as a back up bike and I'll mess around with some color on that one.
