Looks like a mountain bike with road tires?
I occasionally do the same with mine.

After some suggestions and research all I can really afford right now is a Giant Escape 2. I figure it's a good place to start though, yeah?

I have a 2012 Giant Escape 2. It's a decent starter bike. Be careful of the rear wheel though; it's kind of cheap. In 3 years of commuting on it, I broke 5 spokes. When the spokes start breaking, it's time to replace the rear wheel, or the bike.

I intend to replace the rear wheel when I can with something that has 36 or more spokes. Thank you for the heads up though.

First ride in almost three weeks, first fixie ride in longer than that. 32 miles with the Night Riders of Fort Worth

About 24 miles into the ride we stopped at Fiesta Mart to pick up some food for our Pedal for Plenty food drive.

...and then I stopped at El Tacolote for some street tacos for dinner on the way home.

Isn't that in Princeton? I used to live in Lawrenceville and I'd go jog on one of the towpaths, every now and again...
