I just noticed that there's a shock absorber on the front fork. Surely this wasn't original in the 60's? Although I can't see it, the fact that there's a rear link arm suggests rear suspension as well. It would be interesting to meet the original bike designer/builder and discuss the ideas behind the various aspects of the frame design. Fascinating bike! The more I look at it, the more interesting it becomes.

My Moulton has seen a lot of modern upgrades and only the frame and fork are original.

To me, the space-frame Moultons are eye candy for anyone who appreciates brilliant engineering. The pic attached is my Moulton APB which, as far as I know, was their first big-wheel bike [20"]. Suspension front and rear, and the bike disassembles for stowage and easy carry in a fabric bag.

Love all things Kona and Cannondale (and a few others) ...
Picked up this frame only a couple of years ago. Several photo posts of the whole bike in other threads. The last week the only riding I've seen is on the trainer ... looking forward to the sunshine. And yes, I do have fenders ... just prefer not to use them.

Not familiar with this bike ... any particular information you'd offer on the bike / frame ?
Also noticed that you have a Lemond Zurich in your collection. I've kept an eye out locally for one ... reason mostly the name on the frame. Is the ride worth the effort of aquiring?

Here is the bike I rode today. Found the frame with the fork by the garbage can. Added ever everything else myself. Araya wheels, adrenaline 26X 2" tires. New deraileurs, crank, brakes, brake and shift levers, cables, pedals, stem, bars etc. Runs nice. Here's the pic.

This is my first post here so forgive me if this isn't the proper location for this. The Mrs. and I have a couple of old(er) mtb. Her's is a Diamondback Topanga, mine a Trek 830 Antelope. Both still original and in excellent shape. Neither are particularly comfortable to ride, with the flat bar, knobby tires, etc. Thinking about converting them over to a more upright riding position via upright bars and adding "street" tires. But in considering this, will I potentially be heading down a path where the expenditure of conversion is greater than what we could go and just purchase new bikes? Particularly for her, is the mtb frame geometry sufficiently different that no about of "reconfiguration" will make it more comfortable for her to ride around town?
My Trek feels a little small at 20" (I'm 6'2"). Furthermore, I'm leaning towards something along the lines of a Specialized Crosstrail. I'm more apt to ride down a gravel country road where we live than on pavement. Been to a couple of LBS kicking the tires, but they didn't really address the conversion issue very well. Seemed more interested in just selling us new bikes.
We're both 65 and in reasonably good health. Both of us would like to get back into bicycling for recreational enjoyment and health benefits. I've been perusing thru this website for the better part of two months attempting to re-educate myself. Need a little guidance as what may be the best course of action to take moving forward. TIA.

Fellaheen, I suggest starting a new thread for your questions. This thread is for posting pics of our bikes, and your questions go well beyond "thread drift."

2. As to the LBS not being interested in what you are searching for, find another LBS, quickly. There are shops that will be willing to listen, and act, in your best interest. that one doesn't sound like one to stay with. Life is too short to patronize lousy bike shops.
3. As to doing some street friendly changes to your current rides, some slicks to replace the knobbies will make a lot of difference if you are primarily riding on pavement, or those gravel paths. And, you can easily swap the bars and the stem for a more upright position, until you find out what bikes you want to settle on. Not too much expense in doing that, lots of folks here have gone this route. Ride as much as you can/want to, gather up information about your personal needs and preferences, and find a good, responsive LBS.
4. Stick around, and enjoy the adventure, as well as the (s)miles.
Bill

Fixed gear...
2015 Bianchi Pista, Nitto stem and compact bar, Sram levers/Dura-Ace calipers, Wabi ultralight wheels, Thompson/Fizik. Will be getting a Tange Prestige lugged fork this weekend and a full Dura Ace drivetrain over the winter.
Road bike...
2001 Fuji Roubaix, aluminum with carbon fork, Mavic Ksyrium SSC SL, 9 speed w/tripple, mix of well used 105 and some upgraded Ultegra parts. This bike and I go way back, too many miles to count.
