I've heard some good things about State's Black Label series: Black Label Bikes : Fixies & Fixed Gear Bikes | State Bicycle Co.

A few friends of mine ride Black Labels. The frameset is decent enough and priced right at >$350 but I feel the complete bike is way overpriced for what you get. Those wheels in particular are bunk.

I stopped buying anything complete from the online retailers after my first one from BikesDirect like 10 or so years ago. Decent frame, but garbage everywhere else, all the cheapest crap they could find to make it roll.

You're MUCH better off ordering it all as separates, and having the LBS put it together for you (if you aren't so inclined), if you're going that route.

I do like the look. But, more importantly, how much money do you get for each Leader mention, post and/or pic? And, if we egg it on, do you share.....Still waiting for my popcorn, by the way!

Hahaha, no endorsement deals, I'm just a Leader fanboy.

And give me some time, man! You just ordered it!

That could be the way I'd end up going. I'll probably do one or more vintage bikes first.
Cool.

Seems like they're basically turning them into Parallax/Mash clones.

Yeah. For years Leader bragged about their signature geometry with a steep head tube angle and short fork rake but a long head tube. This allowed for tracklike handling with little or no front tire toe overlap. Now that seems to have gone out the window.

What is "front tire toe" overlap ? Is that where your foot hits the front tire. Annoying, I take that to mean - I am too big for the bike.

Thanks.
Srinath.

On many track bikes with tight geometry the rear of the front tire is very close to the pedal when the crank is facing forward, such that the toes and toe clip will contact the tire when making sharp turns. This is not a problem during normal riding, and just requires a bit of care when turning at slow speed. It does not mean your feet are too big and affects even people with small feet like myself.

I think I've only ever clipped my front tire at very low speed once while turning, and that's in nearly 10 years of riding track bikes/fixed. And I'm a size 46/47 (11-12). Just takes a little maneuvering.

Yea happened to me a few times.
Thanks.
