Maybe a future catch, if they ever come down from the clouds. They posted it last week for $300, and I emailed. Zero response. Good, bad, or ugly. They post it again this week for $20 less. If they get below $200 I will consider it, actually around $100-$125 would get me to buy it. I know it's nothing special, but you don't see these too often, especially in this condition. I just like them, since they have that Professional style blue paint, bar ends, etc. I found one 7-8 years ago at the flea market, but it was a 27 inch frame. Gigantic in other words. Playing the wait and watch game for now. Any of you Houston guys know this person?,,,,BD

Catch of last week more like, early 70s Schwinn Super Sport. $40 and even came with a set of red label Arayas. Weird mix of components but the best part is the 3 piece crank and it fits my wife (French fit) pretty well. I'm happy

I picked up this Benotto Modelo 2000 recently for $75. It was a real mix of components (all pretty nice). I gave it an overhaul and put Shimano 105 on it which I had. It is going to my daughter. BTW, there are no cracks near the bottom bracket.

No matter how good a bike score is, I've learned it's best to hide the kitchen knives before you bring the bike home.

OK, I know it's a lousy VARSITY............. but it looked so lonely I couldn't help myself. Bought it cheap from the original owner's son, it has some battle scars but everything works great except the brakes. OLD rock hard brake pads on steel rims, well, you know. Built November of 1974, it's one size too big but I can ride it, I just wish the "dance floor" was a little bigger. Tires don't match but both are in good shape and the rear is a fairly new Bontrager that still has the mold flash down the center. The fenders are in excellent condition, if I don't keep this one I will be keeping the fenders.

Make's Mini look Maxi. Just got this tonight for a friend's 1 year old, who has been walking already for 2 months. Nice for a Jackson portrait.

That is a good looking conversion! Might need to take a second run at using the fenders.

Was on a sort of working vacation last week, complicated, but have a place I can stow say, a bike or two at relatives down there and ended up buying not one, but two bikes at yard sales on Saturday. First bike was anything but vintage, some otherwise un-noteworthy Wal*Mart "Next Avalon" branded affairs but was a mere ten bucks and the person selling it had already sorted out all of the usual cringe-worthy build issues, but a accident had put a nasty kink in the gear shift cable so it's stuck in a low gear until I can replace said cable.
But this is clearly not the bicycle that brought me to this site. No, about two hours later that morning I came across this rusty beauty, a Giant Excursion at the super fantastic price of a mere $20... plus the hundred or so it's going to end up costing for replacement parts.

Hey oddjob quick question: how do you use the plastic post/bar thing between the clamps on the left side of your rack? I picked up the same rack at the Salvation Army a while back and can't quite figure out what its purpose is.

His parents told me he has a older brother (4 1/2 yrs old ) that also has been riding since he was two & moved up to a 18" tired BMX bike. They told me they never let either one see the bike with the training wheels on & removed them right away. The mom said they got some kind of balance bike that they would ride around in the house and that made the transition to a two wheeler very easy for them. I know some kids that didn't learn how to ride a bike until they were 12 & 13 & even now many yrs later are not that good on a bike.

It kind of keeps two bikes from slamming into one another. I suppose if you used a bungee with it, it would do a better job. The only thing I don't like about the rack is that the holders slide a bit too much. I'll probably silicone them in place.

Alrighty, thanks for the info. I had it doing all sorts of weird things trying to figure out what it did. Sweet bike, too, staged like it's in the "Hot or Not" thread.
